POSITION SUMMARY:

Provides direction and leadership for YMCA finance and business operations. Oversees the YMCA’s accounting practices, the maintenance of its fiscal records, and the preparation of its financial reports. Ensures a system of strong internal controls and maintains fiscal soundness.  Manages the annual external audit, the 990 tax return and the preparation of information for outside funders.  Provides leadership for other functions, such as human resources and information technology services.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Financial Management & Strategy

    Accounting Operations: Lead all daily accounting functions, including month-end and year-end closings, bank reconciliations, and investment monitoring.

    Budgeting & Forecasting: Oversee the annual budget process; provide leadership and training to department heads to ensure realistic planning and fiscal accountability.

    Strategic Growth: Develop performance indicators to track strategic goals and evaluate business models to ensure long-term organizational sustainability.

    Grant & Contract Oversight: Maintain financial data for government contracts and grants, working closely with the development team to track balances and compliance.


Human Resources & Payroll

    Payroll Administration: Execute full-cycle payroll processing, including tax payments, retirement transmittals, and journal entries.

    Talent Management: Oversee the entire employee lifecycle, including onboarding/offboarding, performance management systems, and supervisor support for workplace resolutions.

    Benefits & Compensation: Manage salary structures, job classifications, and benefit plan administration, ensuring programs remain competitive within the market.


Compliance, Audit, & Risk Management

    Audit & Tax: Lead the annual independent audit, prepare financial statements and IRS 990 forms, and serve as the primary liaison to the Finance Committee.

    Legal Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to GAAP, employment laws, EEOC regulations, and YMCA of the USA standards; manage all corporate filings and insurance renewals.

    Internal Controls: Maintain and enforce robust internal controls and safeguard all YMCA financial resources and sensitive personnel data.


Leadership & Governance

    Board Relations: Provide monthly financial reporting to the Board of Directors and act as the staff liaison for assigned volunteer committees to develop and implement policy.

    Executive Leadership: Serve as a core member of the Management Team, aligning organizational structure and culture with the YMCA’s mission and strategic objectives.

    Systems Administration: Serve as the primary administrator for financial and HR platforms (e.g., Sage Intacct, Active Network, Bloomerang/Qgiv, iSolved).


Organizational Culture

    Foster an inclusive environment by implementing structures that remove barriers and promote equity for all.

    Represent the YMCA at internal and community-sponsored events.

    Perform other duties as required to drive the vision and mission of the YMCA of Rome and Floyd County.



QUALIFICATIONS:

    A bachelor’s degree in finance or related field is preferred.  

    Must have a basic understanding of YMCA programs and knowledge of budgeting.  

    Three to five years of related experience is preferred. 

    Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products including advance knowledge of Excel (lookups, pivot tables, formatting, etc.)

    Must complete First Aid, CPR certification within the first 30 days of hire and keep certification current while employed by the YMCA.

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use a computer for extended periods of time and be able to communicate using a computer and phone/smart device.  The employee frequently is required to sit and reach and must be able to move around the work environment. 

    The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.  

    Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust.

    The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
