Carlsen Precision Manufacturing, Rome, GA, is an expansion of the 100 year old, successful family business, Larsen & Shaw Limited of Ontario, Canada. The company has a solid knowledge of metal stamping, tool & die design, automation, plating, electro-polishing and finishing. Our broad capabilities are all supported by well-established technical training and is based on a foundation of lean manufacturing principles.
Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Tool & Die Maker is responsible for performing new tool build and maintenance which includes analysis of work required to restore progressive dies, tools, fixtures and gauges back to production readiness, participate in process improvements while actively pursuing opportunities for continuous improvement initiatives.
The Successful applicant will possess the following qualifications:
- Licensed Tool & Die Maker or Equivalent Experience
- 3-5 years of Tool & Die experience preferred
- Experience with CAD platforms such as SolidWorks and AutoCad and CNC applications on
Mills, Lathes and EDM would be considered an asset
- Experience in Microsoft Office is preferred
- Excellent technical and mechanical aptitude
- Self starter and good communication skills
Responsibilities:
- Perform tooling maintenance which includes analysis of work required to restore progressive dies, tools, fixture and gauges back to production readiness
- Build replacement tooling, new die components, gauges and fixtures to close tolerances as per part drawings
- Participate in the identification of tooling upgrades that lead to lower maintenance costs, higher productivity and greater production uptime
- Willing to learn all aspects of the department which may include set-up and use of all machining and production equipment, recommending, installing and troubleshooting in-die sensing and die automation, tool design, CAD/CAM applications and ERP platforms (PLEX).
- Perform basic machinist and millwright duties when required which may include welding, machine and equipment repairs, pneumatic and low voltage (sensor) repairs/upgrades
- Proper launch of tools into production including oversight and creation of set up sheets
- Trouble-shooting on production lines, as required
- Documents actions by completing maintenance reports
- Participate in creating procedures and standard work
- Actively pursues opportunities for improvement using corrective actions, quick & easy kaizens and other continuous improvement tools
This position is permanent, full time, working 40 hours a week, Monday to Friday. Competitive wages,
