Job Title: Store Manager

Position type: Full-Time, Exempt

Salary: $36,000.00

Reports to: Executive Director


POSITION SUMMARY:

The Thrift Store Manager oversees the daily operations of the store, managing staff and ensuring excellent service for both donors and customers. This role ensures the store generates revenue to support the organization’s mission while maintaining a positive shopping and donation experience.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Operations Management

ï‚· Oversee daily store operations, including opening/closing procedures

ï‚· Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations

ï‚· Maintain a clean, safe, and organized retail environment

ï‚· Implement loss prevention and safety procedures


Staff and Volunteer Supervision

ï‚· Recruit, train, and supervise employees and volunteers

ï‚· Develop work schedules and manage timekeeping

ï‚· Provide coaching, performance feedback, and disciplinary action when necessary

ï‚· Foster an inclusive, mission-driven workplace culture


Financial Oversight

ï‚· Manage store budget, sales goals, and expense control

ï‚· Monitor cash handling, deposits, and financial reporting accuracy

ï‚· Analyze sales trends and implement strategies to increase revenue


Donations and Inventory

ï‚· Oversee donation intake, sorting, pricing, and merchandising

ï‚· Ensure efficient inventory turnover and quality control

ï‚· Build relationships with donors and community partners


Customer and Community Engagement

ï‚· Deliver excellent customer service

ï‚· Promote store events, sales, and mission awareness


QUALIFICATIONS:


Required

ï‚· High school diploma or equivalent

ï‚· 2–4 years of retail or resale management experience

ï‚· Demonstrated supervisory experience

ï‚· Strong organizational and communication skills

ï‚· Basic proficiency in POS systems and Microsoft Office


Preferred

ï‚· Experience in nonprofit or mission-driven organizations

ï‚· Knowledge of thrift/resale operations

ï‚· Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus


Physical requirements

ï‚· Ability to lift 40–50 pounds

ï‚· Ability to stand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periods

ï‚· Ability to work in a retail environment with varying temperatures


Work Schedule

ï‚· Full-time position; may include weekends and holidays

ï‚· Flexibility required based on store needs
