Job Summary

The Spiritual Life Director at Unity Christian School is responsible for leading, shaping, and nurturing the spiritual development of the school community, ensuring that Christ-centered principles permeate every aspect of the K-12 school environment. This individual will oversee spiritual programming, foster a culture of discipleship, and provide spiritual guidance to students, faculty, and families, supporting the school’s mission.




Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Vision

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive spiritual life plan that aligns with the mission and values of the school.
  • Serve as a spiritual leader and role model, reflecting a Christ-centered lifestyle in all interactions.
  • Collaborate with school leadership to integrate a biblical worldview into the academic curriculum, extracurricular programs, and school culture.

Spiritual Programming

  • Plan, organize, and oversee weekly chapel services, ensuring engaging, relevant, and age-appropriate worship experiences for K-12 students.
  • Lead or coordinate student small groups, service opportunities, and retreats.
  • Provide pastoral care, offering spiritual guidance and support to students, parents, and staff.

Discipleship & Mentorship

  • Foster meaningful relationships with students, equipping them to grow in their faith and personal relationship with Christ.
  • Mentor staff and faculty in their spiritual journeys and provide resources for integrating faith into their teaching.
  • Encourage and facilitate peer discipleship among students.

Community Engagement

  • Promote outreach initiatives, including local and global service projects, to encourage students to live out their faith in action.
  • Partner with parents to support their role in the spiritual development of their children.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between the school and local churches to build and maintain strong community relationships.




Qualifications

Spiritual & Personal

  • A deep, personal relationship with Jesus Christ and a demonstrated commitment to biblical principles.
  • Agreement with the school’s statement of faith and commitment to upholding its values.
  • A vibrant, consistent prayer life and evidence of spiritual maturity.

Professional

  • Bachelor’s degree in theology, ministry, or a related field.
  • Experience in Christian ministry, pastoral leadership, or spiritual mentorship, preferably in a school or youth context.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to connect with students of all ages, as well as staff and parents.




Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in theology, ministry, or a related field.
  • Teaching or administrative experience in a Christian K-12 school setting.
  • Knowledge of child and adolescent development and how it intersects with spiritual growth.
  • Familiarity with planning and executing large group events such as retreats, mission trips, or conferences.
