Georgia Northwestern Technical College is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Special Populations Coordinator. The Special Populations Coordinator will provide services and activities to prepare special populations students for high skill, high wage, high demand careers leading to self-sufficiency. This position will require travel to all six GNTC campuses, occasional evening and weekend hours and occasional overnight travel for professional development.


Duties Include but are not limited to:


  • Manages special populations budget funds; monitors contract performance to ensure compliance with service agreements; ensures program compliance with current year Perkins Plan.
  • Plans and schedules workshops across all seven campuses, including the Aviation Campus for program students; schedules dates and workshop locations.
  • Coordinates the operations of the Student Resource Centers on every campus, which includes the food pantries and clothing closets.
  • Participates in Technical College System of Georgia peer group meetings.
  • Oversees the textbook lending library program.
  • Makes classroom visits on all campuses to ensure students and faculty are aware of programming.
  • Attends monthly Program Directors meetings of programs outlined by the Perkins Grant guidelines.
  • Develops community partnerships and collaborative arrangements across all nine service counties.
  • Maintain a knowledge of all GNTC program requirements to ensure accurate advisement and registration.
  • Develop and prepare materials, such as brochures, handouts, general information summaries, manuals, and training documents.
  • Identify and refer students to appropriate on-campus and off-campus resources for assistance with academic and personal concerns.
  • Knowledge of GNTC process and procedures to respond to student needs for information.
  • Knowledge of Perkins Plan Requirements, including student populations being service by Special Populations.
  • Assists with DEI education and programming for GNTC Faculty, Staff, and Students.
  • Assists with Student Success Department events across all campuses.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in a related field and Two (2) years of related experience.


Note: Experience may substitute for the degree on a year-for-year basis



Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree in a related field. Goal setting and strategic planning experience. Experience at any TCSG institution. Knowledge of the Perkins Grant requirements, specifically the guidelines of the Special Populations Program. Knowledge and experience in the use of the Internet, email, and Microsoft Office. Ability to prioritize multi-tasks, demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills, and possess effective interpersonal skills in order to work well with students, faculty, staff, and the public.


Physical Demands: 

Work is typically performed in a classroom or office environment with intermittent sitting, standing, or walking in various settings. The employee occasionally lifts or moves objects to a light to medium weight. Full range of hand and finger motion may be utilized for data entry purposes.

If the job involves driving, physical requirements include the ability to operate a vehicle and sit for extended periods.

 

Salary: $49,921 – $52,000


Benefits: 

If this is a part-time position, no benefits are available. If this is a full-time position, benefits include: 13 paid State holidays, annual and sick leave, paid parental leave, a State of Georgia benefits package that includes Health, Dental, Vision, Life, etc. A choice of two retirement systems: Teachers Retirement System of Georgia or the Employee’s Retirement System of Georgia based upon position and 401K options.
