Social Media Assistant & Content Creator - Graduate Assistant
The Social Media Assistant & Content Creator is a 20-hour-per-week graduate assistantship within the Department of Marketing and Communications. This role is ideal for a creative storyteller who's excited about social media, curious about what makes content connect, and eager to build real-world experience regardless of how long they've been doing it.
In this role, you'll help imagine, capture, and create content for Berry College's social media and YouTube channels, with a strong emphasis on short-form video. You'll collaborate closely with the Social Media Manager and gain hands-on experience producing content that grows audience engagement, strengthens Berry's reputation, and expands awareness beyond the Southeast.
You'll also have opportunities to support live event coverage, work alongside student creators, and occasionally step in front of the camera yourself.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Social Media Manager on ideation and creation of social video content, including YouTube series and campaign-based short-form video.
- Support all phases of production, pre-production, filming, and post-production.
- Coordinate filming dates and logistics with featured students, faculty, and staff.
- Build relationships across campus to help surface stories and strengthen Berry's social media presence.
- Attend live events to capture video and behind-the-scenes content.
- Occasionally serve as an on-camera host or featured participant.
Requirements:
Skills Required
- Experience editing video using tools such as Adobe Premiere Pro and/or short-form editing apps (CapCut, Edits, etc.).
- An interest in how different social platforms work and how content should adapt for each.
- Basic understanding of video lighting, composition, camera operation, and audio recording (or a strong willingness to learn).
- Ability to manage multiple projects and shifting priorities.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Comfort working in a deadline-driven environment.
- Flexibility to work occasional evenings or weekends.
- Willingness to appear on camera when needed.
Skills Preferred
- Experience with advanced video editing tools such as Adobe After Effects.
- Interest in or experience creating content for Gen Z and Gen Alpha audiences.
- Familiarity with more advanced lighting and audio techniques.
- Experience editing, optimizing, or managing content for YouTube.
- Experience developing content as part of a recurring or multi-platform video series.
