About Us
Our thrift store supports the mission of Hospitality House for Women, a domestic violence shelter in Rome, Georgia. Every purchase helps provide safety and resources for survivors. We are seeking a dependable, mission-driven team member to join us as a Sales and Processing Associate.
Position Summary
Plays a dual role in ensuring smooth store operations: providing excellent customer service at the register and efficiently processing donations in the backroom. This position requires attention to detail, reliability, and a positive attitude that reflects our mission.
Key Responsibilities
Responsible for sales transactions and receiving, sorting, and preparing donated items for sale. This role ensures merchandise is clean, organized, and priced according to store guidelines and helps maintain the quality and integrity of our sales floor.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Customer Service
ï‚· Assist customers with a friendly and respectful attitude
ï‚· Ensure prompt and accurate customer checkout
ï‚· Verify accuracy of prices and quantities, process payments, issue receipts, and provide clear information to customers
ï‚· Greet customers warmly, answer questions, assist in locating merchandise, and offer advice or recommendations.
ï‚· Keep store well-stocked and clean, with merchandise appropriately displayed
ï‚· Wear professional attire per the Employee Handbook guidelines
ï‚· Knows and follows all HHFW policies and procedures
ï‚· Maintains confidentiality of Hospitality House clients
ï‚· Provides clients with assistance in locating needed items
ï‚· Wrap and bag purchases with care to ensure customer satisfaction.
ï‚· Restock and return merchandise to the sales floor as needed.
ï‚· Keep the cash register area clean, organized, and sanitary.
Donor Services
ï‚· Gives prompt assistance to people wishing to donate items. Heavy lifting may be required when loading/unloading donated items.
ï‚· Ensures donations are properly documented and provides receipts to donors.
ï‚· Responds appropriately to questions regarding HHFW policies on accepting items for donations.
ï‚· Receive, sort, and price donated items according to store guidelines.
ï‚· Prepare merchandise for the sales floor, ensuring quality and presentation standards.
ï‚· Follow all store policies, including loss prevention and donation handling procedures.
ï‚· Support volunteers and contribute to a positive, team-oriented environment.
ï‚· Manage oversized items throughout the store and with customer pick-up.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
ï‚· Strict adherence to safety requirements.
ï‚· Ability to multitask and prioritize in a busy environment.
ï‚· Exhibits discretion, flexibility, and willingness to work closely with management.
ï‚· Previous retail or cashier experience preferred, but not required.
ï‚· Strong customer service and communication skills.
ï‚· Ability to multitask and work in both front-of-house and backroom settings.
ï‚· Reliable, punctual, and able to lift/move donations as needed (up to 25 lbs).
ï‚· Commitment to the mission of supporting survivors of domestic violence.
ï‚· High school diploma or equivalent.
Physical requirements

ï‚· On occasion, the employee may be required to lift or move items weighing up to 50 pounds with assistance.
ï‚· Vision requirements include the ability to see clearly at close and long distances, as well as to adjust focus as needed.
ï‚· The typical noise level in the work environment ranges from low to moderate.
