POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for all aspects of our health and safety program. Responsible for maintaining and promoting a safe work environment throughout the facility. Works closely with management to resolve work related hazards quickly and efficiently and looks for way to minimize any potential hazards in the workplace.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Implements, develops, and updates the Health and Safety program to meet regulatory requirements and to reduce and/or eliminate occupational injuries and financial losses.
Responsible for ensuring safety policies are met and are followed consistently throughout the organization and provides suggestions on improvements to working conditions and/or ergonomics.
Responsible for accident investigations and ensuring that corrective actions are taken within a reasonable time. All accidents and incidents are to be reported to the HR Manager and to the president as quickly as possible and are to be tracked and updated as needed.
Responsible for monthly safety walks and must take the lead in correcting any potential hazards that are identified. Must take initiative to identify common injuries and or incidents to develop loss control programs to mitigate their occurrence.
Responsible for tracking incidents to include recordkeeping of the OSHA 300, 300A & 3001 forms and responsible for completing and posting the OSHA 300A. Responsible for tracking non-OSHA recordable incidents and providing a resolution within a reasonable time frame.
Responsible for all aspects of our worker’s compensation program to include communication between team members, WC carrier and medical providers. Works with manufacturing team to return team members to work and responsible for coordinating return to work strategies when team members are on restrictions.
Responsible for taking the lead and coordinating safety activities throughout the year.
Responsible for updating emergency action/response plans and for coordinating fire and severe weather drills as scheduled.
Responsible for developing and conducting team member training on a variety of OSHA required topics. Responsible for new team member/associate safety orientation. Must determine the required trainings for our industry and must provide a training list yearly.
Must maintain knowledge of current OSHA regulations by attending local seminars/trainings.
Continue the safety team meetings and report findings/resolutions to HR Manager.
Responsible for the locker, safety shoes & safety glasses program.
Assist with our employee purchase/discount program.
Responsible for ensuring the Covid-19 prevention program is being followed.
Responsible for conducting Adaptive Motion Exercise program each morning.
Assist HR with placement of new associates and/or team members.
Participate in career fairs and recruitment activities as requested.
Responsible the for the Forklift training and certification program.
Responsible for DOT Program to include training & scheduling medical examinations.
Responsible for Right-to-Know training/requirements and for ensuring that Data Sheets are readily available and accessible to team members.
Responsible for coordinating random drug screenings.
Responsible for checking the call-in line and sending out an email to supervisors, Managers and HR on a daily basis.
Responsible for our Wellness program.
Other HR tasks as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
At minimum 3 years of experience in a safety related role in a manufacturing facility with some HR experience is preferred.
Experience in developing, implementing, and conducting safety a program in a manufacturing environment are required.
Knowledge of OSHA Standards/requirements and lean manufacturing concepts (Kaizen, 5S, and lean manufacturing etc.).
Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety or a related field is preferred.
Technical skills as well as good reasoning ability, communication, interpersonal, and communications skills are essential.
