JOB SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Chief Executive Officer of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Northwest Georgia, the Resource Development Director has the responsibility for assuring the successful achievement of fundraising goals including the annual campaign, leadership of transformational giving strategies, and special events. Strong focus will be placed on the overall development of the fundraising plan to include facilitating the successful participation of the Board of Directors in the annual and planned giving campaigns to result in year over year growth of individual and corporate giving throughout the community and assisting with the successful execution of special events. The position is 40 hours per week, 8:30am – 5:00pm, Monday – Friday, with minimal meetings and events during non-business hours and weekends.
SPECIFIC DUTIES
Work with the Chief Executive Officer to plan and execute resource development strategies and monitor progress against goals and cultivate/solicit major gifts and grants from individuals, corporations, government agencies, and others.
Plan and direct the Annual and Planned Giving Campaigns with the assistance of the Chief Executive Officer, the Board of Directors, and Boys & Girls Clubs of America.
Assist with the successful execution of special event logistics including solicitation of corporate sponsors, program development, entertainment, scripts, etc.
Fulfill any additional duties as required by the Chief Executive Officer and the Board of Directors.
APPROXIMATE TIME SPENT ON SPECIFIC DUTIES:
Forecast and plan fund-raising campaigns and activities (written RD plan) - 10%
Manage fund-raising campaigns and activities - 25%
Inspire and manage volunteer fund-raising leadership - 15%
Identify and cultivate prospective donors - 10%
Help identify and pursue corporate and foundation grants - 10%
Produce solicitation materials and train volunteer solicitors for campaigns – 10%
Database management (donor tracking system) - 10%
Stay current with advancements and changes that are pertinent to raising money within the
community and to the development profession – 5%
Interact with other organization staff members and youth – 5%
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
Must have temperament suited to serving people’s needs and must be attentive, persistent, and flexible.
Must be willing to function in the background but also bring a sense of control, perspective, and order to our fundraising process.
Work with high level volunteer Board and committees to meet fundraising objectives.
Utilize various fundraising techniques to identify, solicit and steward gifts from various donor sources (i.e., individuals, corporations, foundations).
Demonstrate high standards of ethics and integrity.
Display excellent verbal and written communication skills, with strong interpersonal skills.
Implement successful special event fundraising practices and best practices.
Manage donor tracking system and data.
Must be available for occasional events and meetings during non-business hours and minimal weekends.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Applicants must have a four-year degree from an accredited college or university.
A minimum of three years of experience in development or marketing
Excellent written and verbal communication skills coupled with strong interpersonal skills
Excellent organizational skills with ability to accomplish multiple tasks under strict deadlines
Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team and on an individual basis
Demonstrated leadership and project management skills
High standards of ethics and integrity
Demonstrated ability to utilize various fundraising techniques to identify, solicit and steward gifts from various donor sources
Have intermediate Microsoft Office, research and spreadsheet skills
Some experience in customer service and event planning
Experience with the Donor Perfect donor tracking system is highly preferred.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
Compensation is based on education, experience, knowledge, and skills but usually starts from $50,000 - $60,000 per year. Performance-based bonuses are also available.
