Berry College Memorial Library seeks an engaging, collaborative, and service-oriented research and instruction librarian who is committed to supporting and mentoring students, contributing to a vibrant academic campus community.
The Research & Instruction Librarian will serve as liaison librarian to the Charter School of Education and Human Sciences, including undergraduate programs in Education, Exercise Science, Nursing, Psychology, Sport Leadership and Strategy, graduate programs in Education, the Physician Associate Program, and potential future health sciences programs. Core responsibilities include collaborating with faculty, staff, and students to provide information literacy instruction, assisting with research, providing reference services, developing the library collection, and partnering on relevant programming. In addition, the Research & Instruction Librarian will be the librarian team expert for key health sciences resources, including AccessMedicine, CINAHL, DynaMedex, Medline with Full Text, and PubMed. Depending on interest and expertise, there is the opportunity to develop a functional specialty (e.g., data management or open scholarship) as part of this position.
This is a non-tenured faculty librarian position, reporting to the library Director. Berry College librarians are eligible for promotion. This position may be hired at the Assistant Librarian rank, commensurate with academic library experience. New and recent MLIS graduates are encouraged to apply. Applicants are encouraged to think broadly about and communicate how their skills and experience transfer to the qualifications that may not be obvious. The preferred start date is the Spring Semester of 2026.
Requirements:
- ALA-accredited master's degree in library and information sciences, in-hand or projected completion by May 2026.
- Positive attitude and commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive campus environment.
- Strong customer service skills and commitment to providing excellent service.
Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills, Experience
- Knowledge of, or experience with, one or more academic areas within the Charter School of Education and Human Sciences.
- Experience with or demonstrated knowledge of emerging practices, standards, and trends in liaison librarianship in an academic environment.
- Experience with or demonstrated knowledge of the use of Generative AI tools, especially in an academic setting.
- Strong project management skills to lead and/or coordinate multiple projects.
- Intentional, effective, and kind interpersonal, oral, written, and virtual communication skills.
- Commitment to pursuing professional development, research, and service at a level appropriate for promotion.
