Quality Technician

This position is responsible for the inspection of incoming parts produced by suppliers (local and imported), as needed. The verification of parts assembled in production when requested by SMAC production supervisor or QC Supervisor. SMAC quality technician will be responsible for completing welding department critical dimensions and weld penetration. Controls SMAC Calibration in all aspects according to Procedure. This position may also be required to assist QC Coordinators to confirm that supplier parts and in-house parts meet specifications by performing inspections and tests using various types of testing equipment.

Principal Tasks:

  1. Ability to operate any testing equipment needed to perform required tasks:  Calipers, Micrometers, Height Gage, Torque Wrench, Hardness Tester and Thread Gauges.  Must have the ability to learn and operate the Coordinate Measuring Machine, and Faro Arm.


  1. May assist production to resolve any quality issues associated with the SMAC welding, SMAC painting, and SMAC injection molding.


  1. May be required to assist QC Coordinator with measurements of Initial Production Parts including parts during the various stages of production protos and analyzes the data to complete a summary report for each required part.


  1. May be required to perform incoming inspection of supplier's parts based on requirements by Quality Supervisor or Quality Manager.


  1. Interprets engineering drawings, diagrams, and confers with management to implement the inspections and/or measurements.


  1. Ensures that the testing equipment is properly maintained, and that all equipment is calibrated according to schedule.


  1. Adheres to company safety policies.


  1. Performs other duties as assigned.


 WORK EXPERIENCE and JOB REQUIREMENTS

Experience working with test equipment to include Calipers, Micrometers, Height Gauge, Torque Wrench, Hardness Tester, Thread Gauges and among other measuring equipment.  Experience with working with a Coordinate Measuring Machine and Faro Arm is preferred but will train right candidate, if necessary.


Good mathematical skills, reasoning ability, and communication skills are required as is the ability to read engineering drawings, use of testing equipment, and ability to learn the operation of newly introduced equipment.


Communicates and provides feedback daily with Quality Supervisor or Quality Team leader and Quality Manager to ensure SMAC quality.

  

Post high school education preferred in a related technical field but will consider all candidates that demonstrate the knowledge and ability to learn required tasks.    

  

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office related software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.) is desirable. Knowledge of Excel is required. If you do not know how to use it, give us a chance to educate you. Please strive to improve your own abilities.
