Position Summary
The Quality Manager is responsible for leading all plant quality activities to ensure products meet customer requirements and internal standards. This role oversees day-to-day quality operations, manages customer complaints, supports continuous improvement initiatives, and maintains compliance with ISO 9001 standards. The Quality Manager works closely with operations to drive quality performance and improve customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily plant quality performance and respond to quality issues as they arise.
- Manage and resolve customer complaints, including root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Review and approve or deny customer reject claims for refunds or replacement material.
- Maintain and manage the plant’s ISO 9001 certification, including internal and external audits.
- Lead and coordinate PPAP submissions and customer quality documentation requirements.
- Oversee quality performance of subcontractors and external processors.
- Travel to customer facilities when required to review or resolve quality concerns.
- Develop and report plant quality metrics daily, weekly, monthly, and annually.
- Lead and develop direct reports within the quality department.
- Partner with operations, engineering, and production teams to drive continuous quality improvement.
- Ensure compliance with customer specifications, internal procedures, and regulatory standards.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, or related field preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing quality leadership role.
- Experience managing ISO 9001 quality management systems and audits.
- Experience with PPAP submissions and customer quality requirements.
- IATF 16949 experience is a plus.
- Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis skills.
- Leadership experience supervising and developing team members.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally with operations and customers.
- Willingness to travel occasionally to customer or supplier facilities.
