The Laboratory Technician is responsible for performing quality control testing of raw materials, in-process batches, and finished products to ensure compliance with established specifications and quality standards. This role also conducts experiments to support new product development, formulation optimization, raw material and supplier qualification, and process improvement. Additional responsibilities include preparing customer and internal samples, maintaining accurate laboratory documentation, and supporting laboratory operations. The Laboratory Technician collaborates with cross-functional teams to maintain a safe, efficient, and high-performing laboratory environment committed to quality, innovation, and operational excellence.
GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Perform quality control testing on raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products in accordance with approved laboratory procedures and specifications.
- Document test results, maintain laboratory records, and verify batch documentation for accuracy and compliance with company quality standards.
- Support manufacturing operations by communicating test results, identifying quality concerns, and collaborating with production personnel to resolve issues.
- Design, plan, and conduct laboratory experiments for new product development, formulation optimization, process improvement, and technical problem solving.
- Evaluate and qualify new raw materials and suppliers to ensure they meet established quality, performance, and technical requirements prior to approval and addition to the company’s Approved Supplier List (ASL).
- Prepare, package, label, and coordinate shipment of customer and internal product samples in compliance with applicable shipping and DOT regulations.
- Maintain laboratory cleanliness, organization, chemical inventory, equipment, and supplies to support safe and efficient operations.
- Follow all company safety procedures, environmental policies, and laboratory best practices.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives related to quality, safety, efficiency, and process optimization.
- Train and assist new laboratory personnel or interns as needed.
- Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods of time
- Frequently required to reach, bend, twist, and use hands to handle laboratory equipment and samples.
- Ability to safely lift and carry materials weighing up to 25 pounds.
- Manual dexterity, hand-eye coordination, and adequate vision are required to perform laboratory testing and operate equipment.
- Must be able to pass a pulmonary function test (PFT) and meet all requirements of the company’s respiratory protection program.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Work is performed in both laboratory and chemical manufacturing environments.
- Potential exposure to hazardous or corrosive chemicals, vapors, fumes, airborne particles, moving equipment, and varying noise levels.
- Required to follow established laboratory, chemical handling, and safety procedures.
- Required PPE may include safety glasses or goggles, chemical-resistant gloves, protective clothing, safety footwear, and respiratory protection as needed.
- Periodic work in production areas may be required for sample collection, testing, and manufacturing support.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Education: Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or closely related scientific field. Combined experience/education as substitute for minimum education
- Experience: 1–2 years of laboratory experience in chemical manufacturing, quality control, research and development, or a related environment preferred. Recent graduates with relevant laboratory experience are encouraged to apply.
- Technical & R&D Experience: Experience with laboratory testing, chemical formulations, experimental design, product development, raw material evaluation, data analysis, process improvement, and technical problem solving preferred.
- Manufacturing Support: Ability to work in a laboratory and manufacturing environment and collaborate with production personnel on quality and technical issues.
