Program Coordinator 

Status: Part-Time, non-exempt 

Location: Mount Berry Mall. 

2770 Martha Berry Hwy NE.  

Rome, GA 30165   

Hours: 20-25 hours per week 

Reports to: Board President 


Position Summary: 

The Program Coordinator plays a key role in creating a safe place for children and families to learn, play, and explore our community. This position supports daily operations by implementing curriculum, coordinating field trips, birthday parties, and special events. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, creative, and has excellent communication and administration skills.


 Minimum Qualifications:  

● High school diploma or GED required 

● Must be at least 18 years of age 

● Minimum of two years of working with children/youth   

● Availability to work weekends, evenings, and special events   

● Comfortable working with children, families, school groups, and the general public 

● Must be able to pass criminal background check 


Preferred Qualifications:   

● 2+ years of event planning experience   

● Experience with cash handling, credit card processing, and basic point-of-sale or online payment systems 

● Basic computer skills, including email, scheduling tools, online platforms, spreadsheets, and digital recordkeeping 

● Familiarity with safety procedures, incident reporting, emergency response, or facility operations 


Essential Functions & Responsibilities: 

● Coordinate with schools to plan and schedule field trips 

● Coordinate with parents and guardians to schedule birthday parties 

● Coordinate with other organizations and volunteers to provide activities, workshops, and other special events 

● Support in training of floor staff 

● Interact with parents, volunteers, and community members interested in the mission of CMOR 

● Implement curriculum and interactive activities for use during regular museum hours, field trips, birthday parties, and special events 

● Collect, organize, and report CMOR performance metrics for group sales and attendance   

● Support leadership in the management of risk, security, and compliance with CMOR policies and procedures 

● Respond appropriately to accidents, incidents, emergencies, and unsafe conditions in accordance with CMOR policy and procedures 

● Perform front-desk duties, greet visitors and members, provide introductions, and check in guests via the online platform 

● Process admissions, collect payments, and maintain accurate records 

● Monitor and enhance the guest experience for all visitors, including members and groups 

● Engage visitors with exhibits and interactive experiences 

● Uphold CMOR values in all interactions with staff, volunteers, and guests 

● Perform other duties as assigned 


Physical & Work Environment Requirements 

The physical demands and work environment characteristics described below are representative of those required to successfully perform the essential functions of this position: 

● Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and move throughout the CMOR for extended periods during scheduled shifts 

● Ability to occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull up to 30 pounds 

● Ability to perform repetitive tasks such as cleaning, resetting exhibits, and stocking materials 

● Ability to supervise effectively in a high-traffic, interactive environment with children, families, school groups, and the general public 

● Ability to remain alert to guest safety, identify potential hazards, and respond appropriately to incidents, emergencies, or unsafe conditions

Compensation and Benefits 

● Pay range: $16-20 per hour

Employment with the Children’s Museum of Rome is at-will and may be terminated by either party at any time, with or without cause.
