JOB TITLE:
Production Controller
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Under limited supervision, reviews, plans, and coordinates production requirements, including Stamping, Welding, Paint, and Assembly Departments.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge:
- Mathematics - Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, statistics, and their applications.
- Clerical - Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, and other office procedures and terminology.
- Administration and Management - Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, and production methods.
- English Language - Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
- Production and Processing - Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
- Computers and Electronics - Knowledge of computer software and applications.

Tasks and Activities:
- Develop and implement a production control management system to control processes and deliver resources for the successful on-time delivery of manufactured products.
- Master Scheduler to develop and implement detailed, constraint-based, production schedules to meet promised deliveries.
- Monitor and maintain optimal levels of raw materials (including steel), fabrication materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods to support production needs.
- Implement and oversee an effective inventory and production control system.
- Provide technical guidance in the use and optimization of the Epicor ERP system.
- Effectively manage the procurement team to ensure timely procurement of raw materials and components.
- Continuously identify areas for improvement in production processes to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and increase productivity.
- Collaborate with manufacturing, purchasing, and quality personnel regarding material status and production planning issues.
- Assist in the development and formulation of long and short-range planning, improvement programs, and both individual and department objectives.
- Prepare regular reports on production objectives, performance, and compliance for management review.
- Achieve optimum employee levels with appropriate amounts of overhead and expenditures to meet an annual budgetary plan.
- Hire, train, develop and evaluate staff. Take corrective action as necessary on a timely basis and in accordance with company policy.
- Perform miscellaneous duties and projects as assigned and required.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, operations management, supply chain management, or related field preferred, but not required.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in production planning, scheduling, and control in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment; desired.
- Proficient use of ERP and MRP systems. (Epicor experience preferred).
- Experienced with MS Office, particularly skilled in utilizing MS Excel at an advanced level.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Demonstrate strong leadership and team management abilities.
