Job Title: Resident Advocate
Position type: Part-time/Hourly, Night and Weekend, Non-Exempt
Hourly Rate of Pay: $16/hour
Reports to: Program Manager
Position Summary:
Responsible for ensuring that the physical and emotional needs of all residents are met.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Resident Services
• Supports new residents through the intake process, including completion of intake forms, communicating house responsibilities, policies and procedures and completes documentation.
• Provide room assignments to residents and make them feel comfortable. Assess physical needs and
ensure they have necessary toiletries, clothing, personal care items and clean linens and towels.
• Maintains overall cleanliness and sanitation of common areas and other resident areas.
• Conducts security checks in and around the house and related resident areas.
• Responsible for demonstrating life skills and providing positive, emotional support.
• Coordinates completion of assigned housekeeping duties fairly among residents and assists.
• Holds residents accountable for upholding responsibilities and expectations. Communicates any issues or concerns to the Program Manager.
• Takes resident attendance, maintains bed count and ensures capacity.
• Performs all other related duties as assigned.
Client Services
• Answer 24-hour crisis line and accurately document all information in the database.
• Provides crisis intervention to all callers including individualized safety planning, emotional support, validation of victim/survivor experiences and feelings, and provide additional information or referrals if needed.
Administrative
• Reads staff communication log at the beginning of each shift. Documents all relevant information in the staff communication log at the end of each shift.
• Attends all staff meetings and completes all annual training requirements
• Accurately documents all intakes and crisis calls in the database.
Qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Microsoft Office suite proficiency
• Working knowledge of domestic violence
• Must have a valid driver’s license
• Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work effectively with a diverse group of individuals
