Job Summary:
 This Parent Aide will not only administer our First Steps program (providing assessment, information, and referral to new parents) but also provide weekly home  visits using the evidence-based Exchange Parent Aide model.    This is a direct service position that requires a willingness to serve families in a variety of settings in he community and requires an ability to manage multiple demands, network, work with other agencies, and coach families with children 12 years and younger.

Key Responsibilities:
  Provide weekly home visits of 1-2 hours each to families living in Polk and Floyd County
  Provide periodic transportation to families and children to access community resources
  Conduct screenings and assessments using various tools
  Attend First Steps monthly virtual meetings and ensure the program in maintained per State guidelines
  Document provided services using Word; complete required paperwork
  Enter First Steps services into a centralized database 
  Maintain the First Steps parenting packet, ensuring materials are up-to-date
  Assist in maintaining a resource closet and track distribution of resources
  Interact with other agencies to recruit additional First Steps referrals
  Work as a team with agency colleagues, agencies, and professionals to surround families with support; may include attending community meetings
  Help with various office and fund-raising tasks as needed

Qualifications:
  Education:  Associate or Bachelor degree in Human Services or related field preferred 
  If no degree, then equivalent experience providing social service support to families will be considered
  Experience:  1-3 years social services experience preferred

Skills:
  Proficient in use of Word and Outlook in Microsoft Office Suite; must have some experience using Excel
  Ability to write independently without use of AI
  Ability to speak Spanish is preferred
  Ability to organize a schedule independently and managing crisis situations
  Strong time-management and organization
  High attention to detail and accuracy 
  Ability to deliver parenting and life skills education effectively (training on models used will be provided)

Working conditions
  Full-time position with standard work hours; must have an ability to work past 5 pm 1-2 days per week
  Must be able to provide home visits to a variety of settings and deliver pack-n-plays or car seats as needed 
  Some services are delivered at the hospital or in a medical setting
