Open Rank Full-Time Faculty Position

Open Rank Full-Time Faculty Position

The Division of Nursing at Berry College invites applications for either an open-rank tenure-track or clinical track faculty position. Either position (9-month) begins Fall 2024. We seek a faculty member who embraces evidence-based, patient-centered and highly interactive teaching practices utilizing high fidelity simulation labs, active-learning classrooms, and skills labs.

Rome is northwest Georgia's regional center for healthcare, with two area hospitals and the largest privately-owned multi-specialty physician group in the state. A major continuing care retirement community,  The Spires at Berry College, is located on campus, offering opportunities for faculty research and student clinical experience in skilled nursing, memory care, assisted living and rehabilitation. Nursing faculty have the opportunity to partner with faculty in Kinesiology to promote health, wellness, and activity in Berry's intergenerational campus community (including children attending on-campus laboratory schools). The College will break ground in March 2024 for the new health-sciences building to house its nursing, kinesiology, and forthcoming the Physician Associate Program; these three programs will not just share classrooms, laboratory, and simulation space but develop interprofessional education (IPE) throughout their programs.

Tenure-track applicants should have a program of research that can excite and involve undergraduate students. Start-up funds are available, along with competitive internal research support and assistance in seeking external funding. For the clinical-track position, applicants should maintain clinical expertise within their specialty practice with negotiable practice work release.

Both positions require a commitment to excellence in teaching and service, and applicants should possess a strong interest in mentoring students in a residential college environment. Signature experiences for nursing students include a required cultural immersion course and a 180-hour senior internship that provides intensive clinical experience. Berry's Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program is accredited by CCNE and approved by the Georgia Board of Nursing.

REQUIREMENTS:

Applicants must hold a terminal degree in Nursing or a closely related field by the date of employment. We have a critical need for prelicensure teaching in courses focused on fundamentals, mental health, medical surgical, and community nursing. Licensure as a registered nurse in Georgia is required by time of appointment.
