Position Summary:
The Night Manager/Advocate is responsible for ensuring the safety, security, and support of shelter residents during overnight hours. This position provides crisis intervention, emotional support, and advocacy services while maintaining a calm and stable environment. The Night Manager also monitors shelter operations, does intakes and assessments, enforces guidelines, helps prepare rooms for new residents and documents relevant information during evening and overnight shifts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a visible and supportive presence in the shelter throughout the overnight shift to ensure a safe and secure environment for all residents.
  • Provide crisis intervention and emotional support to residents as needed, using trauma-informed and empowerment-based practices.
  • Conduct regular safety checks of the facility, including doors, windows, and security systems.
  • Monitor and address resident needs and concerns, ensuring house rules and policies are followed respectfully and consistently.
  • Complete intake procedures for new residents when necessary during evening or overnight hours.
  • Respond to calls to the 24/7 crisis line, offering information, referrals, safety planning, and support.
  • Document shift notes, incidents, intakes, and other relevant information accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Perform basic housekeeping or facility upkeep as needed to maintain a clean and welcoming environment.
  • Communicate pertinent shift information to daytime staff and supervisors for proper follow-up.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and professional boundaries at all times.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required; additional training or education in social services, crisis intervention, or related fields welcomed.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and manage crisis situations effectively.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.
  • Commitment to the mission of supporting survivors of domestic violence.
  • Must pass a background check and complete required training.

Schedule:
This is an overnight position, typically covering evening through early morning hours, including holidays.

Reports To:
Executive Director


Pay: $14.00 per hour

Shift: Monday - Thursday, 10 pm to 8 am
