Job Summary
This position is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, implementation, execution, and completion of moderately complex projects ensuring consistency with the strategies, initiatives, goals, timelines, and budgetary parameters of Georgia Highlands College. This position reports to the Facilities Director.
Responsibilities
• Is responsible to understand, support, and carry out the college's mission, vision, and values and comply with mandates and regulations of government and accrediting bodies.
• Acquires resources and coordinates the efforts of project team members in order to deliver projects according to schedule, budget, and scope.
• Defines objectives of projects, inclusive of overseeing the quality control throughout life cycle of the projects and prepares preliminary budget information.
• Produces and monitors schedules and project tasks as needed to ensure on-time completion.
• Resolves budgetary, technical, and scheduling issues as they arise and escalates issues of concern to management when appropriate.
• Maintains project status reports and project files.
• Develops project management plans and obtains approval to formalize project plans, schedule, resource needs, and budgetary needs. Defines, plans, schedules, and tracks project tasks, deliverables, goals, and milestones.
• Manages all project phases including initiation, planning, execution, monitoring and controlling, and close out.
• Reports, monitors and tracks warranty claims
• Manages and monitors project schedule, budget, and scope to ensure that projects remain in-scope and meet budgetary, scheduling, and quality requirements.
• Guides teams toward successful outcomes and attainment of organizational objectives.
• Manages and documents changes to the project scope, schedule, and costs using appropriate verification techniques to ensure keeping the project plan accurate and reflective of authorized project changes. Reports any changes to scope, schedule and costs to management and other stakeholders.
• Monitors planning, development, implementation, construction and testing activities and reports on any issues, delays, changes, or concerns to management.
• Manages and coordinates with vendors as needed.
• Manages official project files and documentation.
• Provides periodic project status updates to various parties, both internal and external.
• Maintains excellent communication among project stakeholders, management, and project team.
• Manages proactively project issues and risks. Creates risk and issue mitigation and contingency plans.
• Formalizes final acceptance for the project by ensuring that the final product(s)/services(s) comply with the agreed deliverables, scope, and any organizational procedures to conclude contractual obligations and compiles project close out documentation.
• Maintains floor plans and AutoCAD files, and document in OneDrive.
• Develop and maintain Major Repair and Renovation plan.'
• Maintains and updates facility inventory reports
• Works closely with the I.T. department in the implementation and updating of new access control system
• Assigns and tracks issued keys
• Maintains a high level of job skills by attending and completing various seminars and training courses as well as reading appropriate literature. Continues professional development in order to keep abreast of emerging technologies, methods, and best practices.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
• Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of a baccalaureate degree in a course of study related to the occupational field
• Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the diverse objectives and functions of the subunits in the division/department in order to direct and coordinate work within the division/department, usually interpreted to require three (3) to five (5) years of related experience
• Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license for the type of vehicle or equipment operated
This is a Position of Trust and requires driving for the college and use of a Purchasing Card. Background and Credit check will be required.
Proposed Salary
The proposed salary range for this position is $50,000 - $55,000 per year
This is a fully benefitted position
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
• Knowledge of facilities maintenance principles and practices
• Knowledge of the principles of construction, mechanical and electrical engineering
• Knowledge of college and state purchasing and contract management policies and business practices
• Knowledge of Board of Regents policies
• Knowledge of University System of Georgia policies
• Skill in managing all aspects of project management including overseeing project, GHC team, and contractor team
• Skill in understanding and negotiating terms of contract
• Skill in the analysis of problems and the development and implementation of solutions
• Skill in oral and written communication
