Maintenance Machinist

Reports to Maintenance supervisor.

This position requires a strong knowledge and experience with all machine shop equipment including manual lathe, manual milling machine, drill press, surface grinder, saws, hand tools, & precision measuring equipment. The position will also support production by making spare parts for our welding jigs, checking fixtures, stamping dies, and assembly jigs. Duties also include working with engineering and production on machining parts for current equipment as well as new projects. Other maintenance duties such as maintaining stamping dies, tooling, and assembly equipment may also be required.

Essential Duties

  • Safe operation and maintenance of all shop equipment
  • Read and understand all precision measuring equipment including but not limited to calipers, micrometers, height gauges, bore gauges, dial indicators.
  • Ability to read 2D drawings and produce parts to the specified tolerances on them.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Maintain spare parts for dies, jigs, & fixtures.
  • Able to disassemble die tooling and repair by replacing or making parts.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of all maintenance functions

  • Knowledge of or experience in welding, fabrication, and plasma cutting

Physical Demands

  • Lifting, kneeling, walking, reaching. Being on your feet all day.
  • Working in a manufacturing environment. Areas can be dirty, noisy, and working in confined spaces.
  • Travel is possible for training and equipment research but minimal.

As a Machinist, you will be integral to the manufacturing process, utilizing your expertise in blueprint reading and precision measuring instruments such as micrometers and calipers. Reporting to the production supervisor, your role involves operating CNC lathes and performing fabrication and welding tasks to create high-quality components. Your core skills in machining and mechanical knowledge, combined with premium skills in CNC programming and GD&T, will ensure adherence to specifications and enhance production efficiency.
