Job Description:
This therapist will split time between two primary responsibilities:
College Counseling at Berry College Counseling Center (approx. 30 hours)
Provide individual psychotherapy to undergraduate and graduate students. The counselor will conduct intake assessments, develop treatment plans, provide ongoing therapy, and collaborate with campus partners as appropriate. The counselor will provide crisis intervention during the business day through same-day, walk-in sessions, as well as in an after-hours on-call rotation. Participation in weekly case consultation meetings and monthly staffing meetings is required. The therapist will maintain timely and accurate documentation in the electronic health record system in accordance with professional and institutional standards.
School-Based Mental Health at Berry College Elementary and Middle School (approx. 10 hours)
Provide classroom-based psychoeducation and social-emotional programming. The therapist will design and deliver engaging presentations, activities, and creative projects that help students understand emotions, build healthy coping skills, strengthen social skills, and increase mental health literacy. The therapist will collaborate with school staff regarding individual student support needs.
This role requires flexibility, strong clinical judgment, and comfort working with a wide developmental range from children through young adults.
This is a 10-month position, aligned with the academic calendar. This position reports to the Senior Director of Counseling.
Requirements:
Required:
- Master's degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or a related mental health field
- Fully licensed in the state of Georgia (e.g., LPC, LCSW, LMFT, Psychologist)
- Experience providing psychotherapy
- Ability to work effectively with children, adolescents, and young adults
Preferred:
- Experience in school-based settings
- Experience providing classroom-based psychoeducation or group programming
- Familiarity with trauma-informed care and developmentally appropriate interventions
