Job Description:

The Department of Communication at Berry College seeks a Lecturer in Communication and Assistant Director of Forensics. We seek a faculty member who is committed to excellence in educationally-grounded forensics coaching and undergraduate teaching and mentoring.

Berry's Communication program is one of the largest majors at the college and comprises four concentrations: Digital and Social Media, Filmmaking and Cinematic Arts, Public Relations, and Communication and Media Studies. We are a vibrant, collegial department focused on preparing students for the media industry and graduate studies. Housed within our department, the Berry College Forensics Union was established in 1978 and has consistently produced national finalists while also preparing competitors for personal and professional success.

Primary teaching responsibilities would be Rhetoric and Public Address, a course required of every Berry College student, as well as the potential to teach other Human Communication courses based on qualifications. This position is a full-time, non tenure-track, annually renewable appointment. The successful candidate will be expected to coach, travel, and perform administrative duties in assisting the Director of Forensics. We are especially interested in candidates who will advance Berry's Good Neighbor culture and who will flourish in a liberal arts environment.



Requirements:

 Applicants must hold a master's degree in Communication or a Communication-related field and should have teaching experience at the college level, with evidence of teaching effectiveness. They should have experience coaching collegiate forensics with strong organizational skills, proficiency in online tabulation programs, and experience with social media and team promotional efforts. A valid driver's license and safe driving record are required.
