Job Summary

The Director of Information Technology (IT) at Unity Christian School is a strategic and hands-on leader responsible for overseeing all aspects of the school’s technology systems, infrastructure, and digital security. This individual ensures that technology effectively supports Unity’s mission to partner with parents in preparing students to impact the world for Christ by helping them pursue their God-given potential in academics, leadership, and service.

The IT Director works collaboratively with administrators, faculty, and staff to maintain reliable, secure, and innovative technology systems that enhance teaching, learning, and communication throughout the K–12 environment. This role combines technical expertise with servant leadership to create a technology framework that supports both academic excellence and a Christ-centered community.


Key Responsibilities

Technology Leadership & Strategy

Develop and implement a comprehensive technology plan aligned with Unity’s mission and strategic goals.

Provide vision and leadership for integrating technology into both academic and administrative functions.

Evaluate emerging technologies and assess their potential to strengthen learning and operational effectiveness.

Advise the Head of School and leadership team on long-term technology planning and resource stewardship.

Systems Management & Support

Oversee the installation, maintenance, and upgrading of all hardware, software, and network infrastructure and systems.

These systems currently include Meraki (network, wireless, switches, cameras), Mosyle (device management, classroom device management), Google workspace (Email, file storage), Avaya (phone system), AOT (copiers), 1Password (password management), bell system, prox card system.

Systems that IT will assist in the installation and management of, but ultimately not have jurisdiction over: FACTS, Clever, CrisisGo, Google Classroom.

Ensure the reliability, security, and efficiency of all IT systems, including servers, Wi-Fi networks, and cloud services.

Manage user accounts, permissions, backups, and data integrity across the school’s systems.

Provide timely, effective technical support and training to faculty, staff, and students.

Cybersecurity & Data Protection

Implement and maintain strong cybersecurity protocols to protect school data, networks, and systems.

Ensure compliance with federal and state data protection regulations.

Develop disaster recovery and business continuity plans to safeguard critical information.

Promote responsible and ethical technology use consistent with biblical principles.

Academic & Administrative Collaboration

Partner with teachers to integrate technology tools into classroom instruction that promote engagement and digital literacy.

Support digital learning platforms, student information systems, and assessment tools.

Collaborate with administrative teams to improve efficiency through technology-driven processes.

Coordinate assistance with sound and other IT needs for events held at the school

Oversee the ordering, configuration, and distribution of school devices for staff, teachers, and students

Evaluate and recommend software applications that enhance student learning and school management.

Vendor & Budget Management

Manage relationships with technology vendors, service providers, and consultants.

Negotiate contracts and ensure cost-effective purchasing and maintenance decisions.

Develop and oversee the technology budget with fiscal responsibility and stewardship.

Maintain accurate inventory of technology assets across the campus.


Qualifications

Spiritual & Personal

A growing, personal relationship with Jesus Christ, demonstrated through integrity, humility, and servant leadership.

Agreement with Unity Christian School’s statement of faith and wholehearted commitment to its mission and values.

Desire to use technology as a means to support Christian education and the spiritual development of students.

Professional

Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Systems Management, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).

Minimum of 5 years of experience in IT leadership, systems administration, or network management, preferably in a school or nonprofit setting.

Strong technical expertise in network infrastructure, cloud systems, cybersecurity, and hardware management.

Proven ability to plan strategically, manage multiple projects, and lead with professionalism and grace.

Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.


Preferred Qualifications

Experience in a K–12 educational or Christian school environment.

Familiarity with Google Workspace for Education, FACTS SIS, and learning management systems.

Understanding of classroom technology integration and audiovisual systems.

Experience managing technology budgets and vendor partnerships.
