Job Summary
This position performs specialized duties for Network Support Services unit of Information Technology (IT) and supports the institution's Information Security Program under direction of the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO). This includes implementing safeguards on information systems and assisting the CISO with risk management, continuity of operations planning, and information security incident response activities.
Responsibilities
•
Is responsible to understand, support, and carry out the college's mission, vision, and values and comply with mandates and regulations of government and accrediting bodies.
•
Protects the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information assets through the implementation of safeguards on information systems and network infrastructure.
•
Assists the CISO with incident response as a designated Information Security Incident Response Coordinator.
•
Collaborates with Client Technology Services and Network Support Services units of IT to ensure the security of new information systems and the continuity of security controls from system upgrades and changes.
•
Maintains network security through routine reviews of access control lists on network switches and firewalls.
•
Implements, monitors, and reviews the safeguards and security baselines on virtual server environments.
•
Develops, maintains, and ensures the effectiveness of the IT Disaster Recovery Plan.
•
Analyzes system logs to detect unauthorized activity and abuse.
•
Assists CISO with vulnerability management activities including vulnerability identification and remediation.
•
Assists CISO with Identity and Access Management (IAM) operations, including direct and bulk provisioning and de-provisioning of employee and student Single Sign-On (SSO) accounts.
•
Assists with the institution's information security, awareness, and training programs.
•
Provides information security support to faculty, staff, and students.
•
Performs related duties.
Required Qualifications
•
Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of a baccalaureate degree in a course of study related to information technology; or an associate degree and four years of related experience.
•
Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for two to three years.
•
Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
•
Relevant information security and/or network certifications highly desired (CISSP, SSCP, Security+, CEH, CCNP, CCNP Security, CCNA, CCNA Security).
Proposed Salary
Salary: $58,635.00
This is a fully benefitted position and is a Position of Trust and some driving for the college is required.
The CISO assigns work in terms of very general instructions. The supervisor spot-checks completed work for compliance with procedures and the nature and propriety of the final results.
This position does not have supervisory responsibility for others.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
• Knowledge of National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Risk Management Framework, SP 800-30r1, 800-53r4, SP 800-171, and related information security frameworks
• Knowledge of information security safeguards available on Windows, Mac OS, Linux servers and endpoints.
• Ability to develop and deploy configuration changes using PowerShell, Python and/or shell scripts.
• Knowledge of information security standards and best practices for higher education.
• Knowledge of information technology systems and internal controls.
• Knowledge of the preparation and interpretation of statistical, technical, and narrative reports.
• Skill in the analysis of problems and the development and implementation of solutions.
• Skill in oral and written communication.
