Position Expectations (Read Before Applying)

This is an active, field-based role and is not a sedentary office position.

The Independent Living Coordinator will spend a significant portion of time:

Working out in the community

Traveling throughout the NWGA service area

Meeting with consumers, agencies, and community partners

Attending outreach events, facilities, and training

This position requires someone who is comfortable being on the move, managing multiple responsibilities, and working independently outside of a traditional office setting.


Required for This Position

To be considered for this role, applicants must:

• Have reliable personal transportation and be willing to travel regularly throughout all 15 counties in Northwest Georgia
• Maintain a valid ID or driver’s license and ability to attend off-site meetings, home visits, and community events
• Possess strong computer skills, including the ability to complete documentation, enter data, and maintain records accurately and timely
• Be comfortable using email, databases, and standard office software (Office 365 or similar)
• Be able to manage documentation and reporting requirements independently
• Successfully pass a background check

  • Bachelor’s degree in a field of study relevant to the provision of Independent Living Services and/or one to two years of experience in the direct delivery of human services.

Knowledge of Independent Living Philosophy and disability rights.

Internally motivated, able to work independently and possess the ability to work effectively with the team of co-workers/management, the public, consumers, and other organizations/agencies in a professional manner.

Knowledge of human disabilities and their characteristics and ability to work with diverse ages and populations of individuals with disabilities, this includes but is not limited to Veteran, Homeless, all diverse ethnicities, & LGBTQIA+ communities.

This role is best suited for someone who:

• Is self-motivated and does not require constant supervision
• Can balance fieldwork and administrative responsibilities
• Is organized and able to manage time effectively while traveling
• Understands that this position requires both people interaction and paperwork
