Head Cheerleading Coach – Co-ed


Shorter University, a private, Christian, NCAA DII institution which competes in the Gulf South Conference, is seeking a Head Cheerleading Coach. The University sponsors twenty-one sports with 500 student-athletes in the various programs. The cheerleading coach reports directly to the Athletics Director. The competitive cheer squad competes in the National Cheerleader Association.

Oversee all aspects of the Spirit program (Competitive, Sideline, Mascot): Game preparation (basketball & football), practices, recruiting, academic progress of athletes, fundraising, competition


Qualifications: Previous experience in college competitive cheerleading or experience as a cheerleading coach on the high school or collegiate level. Experience coaching and running a gym also preferred. A person guided by Christian principles. Bachelor’s degree required (Master’s preferred)


Individuals Supervised: Graduate Assistant coach and volunteer coach


Job Duties: Organize and supervise all practices; Develop a recruiting plan and administer try outs for team selection purposes; Be responsible for budget; Adhere to all NCA rules and regulations; Plan all transportation of the team; Be responsible for all discipline of athletes
