Job Title: Lead Sales Associate

Position type: Part-Time, Non-Exempt

Reports to: Thrift Store Manager


Position Summary:

The Lead Sales Associate is responsible for overseeing register operations, training and mentoring sales associates, and maintaining accurate cash handling, and assist with store opening and closing.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities


Customer Service

 Assist customers with a friendly and respectful attitude

 Ensure prompt and accurate customer checkout

 Handle price changes, refunds, and merchandise exchanges

 Resolve customer complaints and concerns

 Keep store well-stocked and clean, with merchandise appropriately displayed

 Wear professional attire per the Employee Handbook guidelines

 Knows and follows all HHFW policies and procedures

 Maintains confidentiality of Hospitality House clients

 Provides clients with assistance in locating needed items


Donor Services

 Gives prompt assistance to people wishing to donate items. Heavy lifting may be required when

loading/unloading donated items.

 Ensures donations are properly documented and provides receipts to donors

 Responds appropriately to questions regarding HHFW policies on accepting items for donations


Staff and Volunteer Management

 Support Thrift Store Manager in hiring retail associates and volunteers

 Assist in managing schedules of retail associates and volunteers

 Assist with the orientation of new employees and ongoing training of employees and volunteers

 Report disciplinary violations regarding retail associates and volunteers to the Thrift Store Manager


Operations and Store Management

 Responsible for assisting with opening and closing procedures

 Supervise daily register operations and cash-out procedures to ensure accuracy and efficiency

 Process payments: Cash, credit cards, and vouchers

 Reconcile cash drawers, process discounts, identify and resolve discrepancies

 Collaborate with the store manager on promotional events

 Conduct routine safety inspections

 Ensure dressing rooms and bathrooms are clean and working

 Manage cash flow: open and close registers, create cash till reports, and prepare bank deposits.

 Be responsible for the safekeeping and accounting of all cash payments

 Oversee the front end: ensure the checkout area is clean, organized, and adequately stocked

 Ensure compliance with all store policies, cash-handling protocols, and safety guidelines

 Monitor sales floor: Assist with floor duties during slow periods, such as restocking shelves, tidying displays, and ensuring a safe, organized shopping environment.

 Manage inventory awareness: Learn the store's products and pricing. Communicate pricing errors to

management and assist with inventory management and tracking programs.

 Uphold security protocols: Adhere strictly to store security policies to prevent inventory loss and protect

company assets. Stay aware of surroundings to deter theft.

 Report issues: Communicate any problems with equipment, supplies, safety, or staff conduct to the store

manager or supervisor.


Qualifications

 High school diploma or equivalent

 3 years retail experience required

 Ability to work effectively with a diverse group of individuals

 Ability to work independently as well as under direct supervision

 Ability to perform basic math functions (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division)

 Excellent verbal and written communication skills

 Preferred skills include strong management and supervision, effective communication, time management,

strong organizational skills, computer and technology skills, and a sense of personal and community

responsibility.


Physical requirements:

 Must be able to lift 50 pounds

 Position requires standing, walking, lifting, carrying items, and moving items
