Job Summary:

The General Utility Worker is responsible for the maintenance and cleanliness of the dishes, serve ware, equipment, etc.  He or she may also help with food prep when necessary.  This may include, but not be limited to pizza and salad bar prep.  In addition, he or she may perform other serviceable duties as assigned.  Essential functions and responsibilities of the position may vary based on requirements and business needs.

There are currently two positions available. A morning shift from 9am - 3pm, and an evening shift from 3pm - 9pm.
 

Job Duties:

1.      Ensure guest satisfaction by maintaining all dishes, pots, pans, silverware, glasses, equipment, and kitchen utensils are cleaned and sanitized.

2.      Maintains dishwashing station, three-compartment sink, and retaliated areas are kept clean

3.      Ensures all equipment is clean and in good working condition; reports any issues to supervisor

4.      Performs other light maintenance and custodial task

5.      Properly prepare and store food by adhering to safety policies and procedures.

6.      Sets up and break down workstations, as needed

7.      Serves food to customers while ensuring guest satisfaction.

8.      Replenishes food items and ensure product is stocked to appropriate levels.

9.      Maintains excellent customer service and a positive attitude towards guests, customers, coworkers, etc.

10.   Adheres to local Health Department safety policies and procedures including proper food safety and sanitation.

11.  Ensures security of the University’s assets.

12.  Other duties and tasks as assigned by supervisors and managers

Required Qualifications:

Previous food service experience

Must be able to work independently with limited supervision and be able to stand/walk for long periods of time

Demonstrates an understanding of basic sanitation procedures

Must be able to follow basic safety procedures due to exposure to hazardous chemicals

Must be able to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays

Must agree to and abide by the Lifestyle agreement as outlined by Shorter University

A commitment to serve Christ, current and prospective students and families, and the University

Preferred Qualifications:

Strong customer service skills

Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling up to 25 lbs.
