JOB TITLE: Finance Director

SUMMARY: The Finance Director oversees financial operations, both those performed in-house and those allocated to an outsourced provider. This role is critical to ensuring the organization’s financial operations are effectively established and maintained.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Financial Management and Oversight (in partnership with outsourced accounting firm):

  • Serve as the primary internal liaison to the outsourced accounting firm handling accounts payable, receivable, payroll, reconciliations, and monthly financial reporting
  • Lead the annual budget development process in collaboration with the accounting firm, CEO and program directors
  • Review monthly financial reports, analyze budget variances, and prepare financial summaries for the CEO and Board
  • Oversee organizational cash flow and forecasting in collaboration with the CEO
  • Manage the annual audit process, supporting the accounting firm as needed
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, 990 prep, grantor regulations, and internal financial policies
  • Serve as the point of contact for all financial relationships including banking and investments
  • Demonstrate a commitment to PQI and attend meetings as required

Grants and Contract Compliance:

  • Support tracking of restricted funding to ensure proper allocation and compliance with government and foundation requirements
  • Monitor budget-to-actual performance for grants and contracts in collaboration with program and development staff

Organizational Leadership and Planning:

  • Act as a thought partner to the CEO and leadership team on organizational planning, operations, and strategic growth
  • Support and improve systems that promote efficiency and sustainability across departments
  • Participate in board meetings, finance committee meetings, and strategy sessions as requested
  • Serve as a member of the leadership team to execute the organization’s strategic goals

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field
  • At least five years of experience in finance, grant management, or operations management
  • Familiarity with nonprofit fund accounting and grant tracking (public & private)
  • Proficient with Sage Intacct, especially report generation
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally with different teams
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with a focus on operational efficiency
  • Experience in budget management and financial analysis, with the ability to effectively allocate resources to maximize outcomes
  • Experience in project management with a strong track record in leading and delivering complex initiative.

  • Collaboration: Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a team-based environment
  • Results-Driven: Commitment to achieving measurable results and driving organizational growth
  • Computer skills required and experience using the following software is desired: MS Office and other database systems
