Job Summary
The position of Student Representative will serve the Mission of the Honors Program and the enrollment, retention, and graduation objectives of the College. Acting in support of the Director of the Honors Program, the Student Representative will engage in activities to support the growth of the Program, support progression through the Program for Honors students, and develop or enrich the offerings the Program provides. A Student Representative will gain valuable experience working in a postsecondary education environment, liaising with various stakeholders across the college, and engaging in community outreach. The ideal candidate for this position comes to it with a passion for higher education, undergraduate research, student achievement, supporting peers, and the GHC Honors Program.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities will vary from week to week, to be determined by the Director and as needed by the Program. There will be a general trend of outreach activities during the beginning of a semester, program development activities during the middle of the semester, and processing or archiving activities at the end of a semester.
• Understand, support, and execute the college's mission, vision, and values and comply with mandates and regulations of government and accrediting bodies
• Understand, support, and execute the mission of the Honors Program
• Meet regularly with the Director to coordinate activities for logged hours of work
• Aid in development, implementation, and assessment of Honors Program activities and engage in outreach activities for students, faculty, staff, or other stakeholders virtually and in person at GHC sites and campuses and with the Director, members of the Honors Advisory Committee, or independently
• Assist in the development of co-curricular offerings and levels of achievement, in-person and via D2L modules, for Honors students
• Complete appropriate training for college employees on the legal and ethical considerations for handling student Personally Identifiable Information (PII), and follow the letter of such laws and policies
• Assist in the processing of forms and information, including digitizing or reformatting, related to student Honors work
• Attend meetings of the Honors Advisory Committee
• Assist in chaperone responsibilities for Honors student travel
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
• Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of an associate degree in a course of study related to the occupational field, or a nearly complete associate degree, or similar experience
• Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the diverse objectives and functions Honors Program from the perspective of a student
• Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license for the type of vehicle or equipment operated
• Access to transportation to reach all GHC campuses/sites.
Proposed Salary
$12.00 per hour
