We are looking for a Crew Supervisor II in our Bridge Shop!


The purpose of this classification is to supervise assigned staff and offenders, and perform manual work functions associated with the maintenance of bridges on County roads and property. 


Responsibilities

  • Operates a variety of heavy equipment, machinery, and tools used in road, bridge and roadside construction and maintenance, including a transport vehicle, dump truck, tandem truck, end loader truck, back hoe, asphalt spreader, motor grader, roller, dozer, mower, weed eater, wood chipper, paint machine, sign fabrication machine, welder, cutting torch, transit, level, tamp, fuel pump, chain saw, air compressor, shovel, rake, paint sprayer, construction tools, concrete tools, mechanics tools, etc.; performs driving and equipment functions in a safe and efficient manner under various conditions, including day/night hours, in congested traffic, and in adverse weather conditions.
  • Supervises and/ or conducts pre- and post-trip inspections, including checking all fluids, gauges, lighting, mirrors, tires, body damage, seats and seatbelts, cleanliness of vehicle, etc.; reports all problems or necessary repairs to appropriate personnel immediately; completes and maintains inspection, gas usage and other associated documentation.
  • Supervises and/or performs daily preventive maintenance work on equipment and vehicles; services and makes minor repairs to equipment and vehicles.
  • Supervises and monitors a work crew of employees and/or inmates assigned to County projects such as road and bridge construction, road maintenance, asphalt paving, landscaping and grounds maintenance, sign fabrication and placement, etc.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent and six (6) months of experience in road construction/maintenance, equipment operation or related field;
  • or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia Commercial Driver’s License, including appropriate endorsements and an acceptable driving record.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Corrections Officer certification.
