Unity Christian School Support Program - LAUNCH
Position Summary: Provides small group and individual instruction for specifically identified students in reading. Provides support for teachers by observing and screening students. Leads parent meetings for specified students. Acts as liaison between outside professionals and Unity staff concerning student referrals. Completes all paperwork regarding student referrals and evaluations.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
1) Maintain daily plans for instructing small groups and/or individual students in reading, phonics, spelling
2) Instruct a minimum of two small group pull-out classes daily
3) Maintain progress-monitoring data and assessments on LAUNCH students
4) Provide daily inclusion support for older elementary LAUNCH students and classroom teachers
5) Keep all LAUNCH forms up to date
6) Maintain communication with parents of LAUNCH students
7) Plan and lead regularly scheduled meetings with parents
8) Support peer teachers: observing specified students, administering screenings, attending parent meetings
9) Act as contact person with professionals from outside agencies and systems
10) Assist teachers and administration by completing referral forms for testing and evaluations
Required Experience and Education:
1) Bachelor’s degree in Education
2) A minimum of 2 years of teaching experience
3) ACSI certification OR State certification
4) Specialized training in reading instruction (preferred)
5) Training in Complete Reading Series or willingness to receive training prior to hire
6) Training in instruction of students with Dyslexia (preferred)
7) Orton-Gillingham training or willingness to receive training
