Statement of Position: The Director of Membership is directly responsible for the recruitment of new members and retainment of existing members through a variety of best practices.
What you’ll do:
• Recruit businesses to join the Chamber membership. Please note that this very much resembles a sales position.
• Make calls and visits to existing members to communicate efforts of the Chamber, encourage involvement and to stay informed about the progress of their business.
• Make follow up calls and visits to businesses who are past due in paying their membership dues.
• Maintain and update the membership database which includes entering new member information and any phone number, address, representative changes, etc. You must be able to manage lots of data and maintaining lots of detailed information.
• Prepare and distribute all invoices and statements for membership dues.
• Maintain and promote the Blue Cross/Blue Shield Chamber member discount program and the Drug Free Workplace program.
• Work to develop and publish the annual membership directory.
• Plan, coordinate and staff the Ambassadors group.
• Schedule, promote and staff all ribbon cuttings and groundbreakings.
• Plan, organize and staff quarterly membership orientation events.
• Prepare and present monthly reports for the Ambassadors , Executive Committee and Board of Directors. Facilitate the Small Business Action Council committee.
• Responsible for generating and completing incoming prospective employer inquiries
• Identify, support and cultivate local entrepreneurs
o Review lists of business licenses for new businesses
o Work with the local Small Business Development Center to identify potential leads
o Responsible for planning and implementation of activities related to entrepreneurial and small business development
• All other duties as assigned. It is vital to have a TEAM approach and work well with others on numerous monthly events. Many of the Chamber’s events are “All Hands On Deck” meaning, every Chamber staffer helps execute the event.
What You’ll Need:
- Bachelor's Degree or relevant experience required
Ability to complete projects with limited supervision and direction.
Ability to function as a member of a high-‐performance team.
Ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with staff, volunteers, Chamber members, and the public.
Have Extensive Computer, Audio/Visual, and Social Networking experience.
