The Director of Federal Programs oversees the administration, compliance, and strategic use of all federal education programs and funds to advance the mission of Northwest Georgia Charter Academy. This role ensures that all federal resources, including Titles I, II, III, IV, V, Special Education, Gifted, and other federal and state grants and programs are planned, implemented, and monitored in accordance with the Georgia Department of Education and U.S. Department of Education regulations. The Director collaborates with school leadership, instructional staff, and community partners to ensure equitable access, support continuous improvement, and promote the effective use of resources to increase student achievement and organizational effectiveness.
ESSENTIAL ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Program Leadership and Compliance ● Develop, manage, monitor, and report on the school’s federal programs budgets, plans, and reporting requirements in accordance with federal and state regulations. ● Ensure compliance with all requirements under the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), IDEA (if applicable), and other relevant grant and state programs. ● Coordinate annual needs assessments and stakeholder input to guide program priorities and funding decisions. ● Submit timely applications, amendments, and reports through the Georgia Department of Education portal (Consolidated Application, CLIP, budgets, monitoring documentation). Fiscal Management and Oversight ● Oversee vendors and contracted service providers funded through federal or state programs to ensure services align with approved budgets, contracts, and performance requirements. PROFESSIONAL/PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS The Director of Federal Programs must: ● Demonstrate exceptional organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skill ● Exhibit integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail in managing compliance requirements ● Communicate effectively with diverse audiences and build collaborative relationships ● Demonstrate initiative, flexibility, and sound judgment in complex situations ● Model ethical conduct consistent with the Georgia Code of Ethics for Educators
QUALIFICATIONS Required Credentials ● Master’s degree in Education, Educational Leadership, Public Administration, or related field ● Valid Georgia teacher and leadership certification ● Minimum of three (3) years of experience managing or supporting federal or state education programs ● Knowledge of ESSA, IDEA, and federal grant management principles ● Strong understanding of budgeting, compliance documentation, and data reporting requirements Preferred Credentials ● Prior experience with GaDOE monitoring, Special Education Administration, or the Consolidated Application process ● Certification in Special Education ● Familiarity with charter school operations and performance frameworks ● Experience coordinating Title I schoolwide programs or similar initiatives NWGA Charter Academy Job Description
OTHER REQUIREMENTS ● Satisfactory criminal background and fingerprint clearance in accordance with O.C.G.A. § 20-2-1184 ● Completion of annual compliance and grant management trainings as required by GaDOE or the authorizer ● Availability for periodic evening or weekend meetings and trainings or school events ● Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to data privacy laws (FERPA, HIPAA) ● Adhere to professional dress code and conduct standards ● Participate in required school trainings to include the EL model of the school
WORKING CONDITIONS & DEMANDS OF THE JOB Mental and Physical Ongoing Demands: Maintain emotional control under stress; work with frequent interruptions/deadlines and prolonged or irregular hours; Frequent walking, standing, stooping, bending, pulling and pushing. Mental and Physical Occasional Demands: Lifting and carrying 10-25 pounds frequently, 25-40 pounds occasionally, more than 45 pounds infrequently with assistance; Pushing/pulling 10-35 pounds sporadically; May be required under specific circumstances to provide physical restraint of students in danger of causing harm to themselves or others; travel. Environmental Ongoing Factors: Occasional exposure to temperature extremes (hot and cold), humidity extremes, noise. Environmental Occasional Factors: Occasional exposure to: biological hazards (communicable diseases, bacteria, insects, mold, fungi, etc.)
WORK SCHEDULE & COMPENSATION ● 40+ hours per week, full-time ● Evening and weekends required as needed to complete tasks. The role may require additional hours during monitoring, assessments, or other preparation periods. ● Exempt, salaried employee ● Full benefits package ● 12 month, 240 day calendar ● Salary commensurate with experience
