Job Summary

The Director of Advancement is a strategic, mission-driven leader responsible for cultivating relationships, building support, and generating resources to advance the school’s mission and purpose. This individual oversees all aspects of fundraising, donor relations, marketing, and communications to ensure the school’s sustainability and growth. The Director of Advancement works closely with the Head of School, Board of Directors, and school leadership to develop and implement strategies that foster a culture of generosity and community engagement within a Christ-centered environment.




Key Responsibilities

Fundraising & Development

  • Create and implement a comprehensive advancement strategy, including annual giving, capital campaigns, planned giving, and special events.
  • Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward relationships with current and prospective donors, including individuals, families, foundations, and corporate partners.
  • Work closely with the Head of School to engage major donors and align giving opportunities with the school’s strategic goals.
  • Develop and manage fundraising campaigns that inspire generosity and reflect the school’s mission and values.
  • Oversee donor recognition programs, ensuring gratitude and relationship-building are central to all efforts.

Community Engagement

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with parents, alumni, local churches, community organizations, and other stakeholders.
  • Serve as a visible and active ambassador for the school, representing its mission and values at events and public engagements.
  • Work collaboratively with the Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO) and other school community groups to foster engagement and support.
  • Create opportunities for alumni involvement, including networking events, giving campaigns, and volunteer programs.

Marketing & Communications

  • Oversee the school’s marketing and communication efforts, ensuring a consistent and compelling message that reflects the school’s mission.
  • Develop materials and campaigns to promote enrollment, donor engagement, and community awareness.
  • Collaborate on the school’s online presence, including the website and social media channels, to enhance visibility and engagement.
  • Collaborate with the admissions team to ensure alignment between advancement and enrollment strategies.

Strategic Leadership

  • Partner with the Head of School and Board of Directors to align advancement efforts with the school’s strategic plan.
  • Provide regular reports on advancement goals, progress, and results to the Head of School and Board.
  • Develop and manage the advancement budget, ensuring fiscal responsibility and alignment with the school’s priorities.
  • Lead and mentor advancement team members, fostering a collaborative and mission-focused culture.




Qualifications

Spiritual & Personal

  • A committed and growing relationship with Jesus Christ, demonstrated by spiritual maturity and integrity.
  • Agreement with the school’s statement of faith and a commitment to its mission and values.
  • Passion for Christian education and the role of advancement in fulfilling the school’s mission.

Professional

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in fundraising, development, marketing, or related fields, preferably in education or nonprofit organizations.
  • Proven success in cultivating donor relationships and leading major fundraising campaigns.
  • Strong understanding of marketing, branding, and communication strategies.
  • Excellent organizational, leadership, and interpersonal skills.




Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a Christian school or faith-based organization.
  • Knowledge of donor management systems and fundraising best practices.
  • Familiarity with capital campaigns and endowment development.
