Job Summary


The Audio Visual (AV) Services Coordinator plays a vital role in ensuring high-quality AV experiences enhance learning, student engagement, and community connection at Georgia Highlands College. This senior AV position supports campus events, instructional spaces, and community programming by managing AV systems, training AV staff, providing technical assistance to users, and coordinating event setups. The role emphasizes service excellence, user-centered support, and close collaboration with faculty, staff, and external partners.


Responsibilities


Designs, installs, maintains, and troubleshoots AV systems in instructional spaces (projectors, microphones, speakers, control panels) and provides on-demand support for faculty and staff during class sessions.


Sets up and operates AV equipment for campus events, including lectures, performances, meetings, and student activities.


Collaborates with institutional leadership, campus managers, and other event organizers to ensure AV needs are met and accessible to all participants.


Trains faculty, staff, and student workers on AV system usage.


Provides technical assistance to faculty, staff and students; creates and maintains user-friendly guides and support materials.


Coordinates AV support requests and manages scheduling for events and classroom needs.


Tracks AV inventory and ensures equipment availability.


Trains and mentors entry-level audio visual technicians and IT student workers.


Assists AVX Director in project planning, systems design, and technical implementation.


Assists with basic client support (help desk) duties within the Information Technology Division.


Performs other duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications


Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of specialized training in the field of work, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a technical or associate degree or commensurate experience


Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for two to three years


Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.

This is an exempt Full Time Position


This is a fully benefitted position


Salary: $53,000

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities


Knowledge of audio visual information systems and technologies, computers including Extron and Crestron control systems.


Knowledge of AV related equipment such as microphones, projectors, video recorders, sound mixing consoles, and automated control systems.


Ability to analyze complex problems and design, develop, and implement effective solutions.


Skill in communicating and relationship building with faculty, staff, administrators, and community members.


Knowledge of basic information technology systems, networks, and internal controls.


Skill in audio visual project and event management.


Skill in the preparation of clear and precise reports.


Skill in oral and written communication.


Knowledge of relevant local, state, and federal laws.


Ability to understand the policies of the University System of Georgia.


Ability to understand the policies and procedures of GHC.

This position does not have supervisory responsibility for others.


The Director of Audio Visual Services assigns work in terms of general instructions. The supervisor spot-checks completed work for compliance with procedures, accuracy, and the nature and propriety of the final results


The work is typically performed indoors while intermittently sitting, standing or stooping. The employee occasionally lifts light and heavy objects, climbs ladders, uses tools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity, and distinguishes between shades of color.


Some driving for the college may be required.
