Church Administrator

Position Summary:

The Church Administrator oversees the Church’s financial operations, physical resources, and human resource policies and functions, and assures smooth day-to-day operations of the organization. This is a full-time position.


Organizational Relationships:  The position reports to the Pastor. All staff and contracted individuals not reporting directly to the Pastor will report directly to the Church Administrator.


Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

Primary responsibilities of the Church Administrator include but are not limited to:


Supervise the Church’s Financial Operations

Work with budget preparation committee to submit the annual budget to the finance committee of the Church

In consultation with the Church’s professional service providers, ensure the Church employs appropriate financial controls

Provide oversight of, approval of, and guidance on all Church expenditures

In consultation with the Church’s professional service providers, ensure the Church complies with all relevant tax and banking laws

Review detailed monthly financial statements with the church treasurer for accuracy and approve any corrections, adjustments, and/or reclassifications required before distribution to the finance committee for review and approval

Staff liaison for the FBC Foundation to meet the strategic needs of both the Church and the Foundation


Steward the Church’s Physical Plant

Oversee a campus maintenance plan in cooperation with the Properties Committee

Provide and maintain optimal communications and technological infrastructure and systems (e.g., telephone systems, computer network, broadcast, hardware and software acquisitions and maintenance) to facilitate the various missions and ministries of the Church

In partnership with the Properties Committee, negotiate and execute contracts on behalf of the Church

Administer policies and procedures concerning the use, safety, and security of all Church properties, facilities, equipment and vehicles

Administer and coordinate all capital improvements


Oversee the Church’s Administrative policies and functions

Work with ministerial staff and all staff and contracted individuals not reporting directly to the Pastor to coordinate day-to-day responsibilities, for the purpose of efficiency and to provide organization

Ensure maintenance and accuracy of personnel, financial and membership data

Hire, supervise and evaluate all staff and contracted individuals not reporting directly to the Pastor to ensure that all responsibilities are being met

Facilitate effective communication between the ministers and support staff

Partner with the Pastor in hiring and release non-ministerial employees

Oversee the employee benefits program, including health insurance, life insurance, PTO (“Paid Time Off”) leave, Church holidays, and PTO allowance

Oversee recordkeeping for time worked and PTO time

Assist in development and implementation of personnel policy by the Personnel Committee

In consultation with the Church’s professional service providers, ensure the Church is following all labor laws and regulations


Collaborate with Pastoral Leadership

Participate in weekly staff meetings

Align administrative priorities with the mission and strategic vision of the Church

Other duties as assigned by the Pastor


Preferred Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • College Degree preferred
  • 5+ years related experience and/or training preferred

 Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • A follower of Christ who is spiritually mature, trustworthy.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, able to effectively communicate to all groups the of church
  • Confidentiality, empathy, professionalism, administration, organization, ability to inspire and motivate teams, proven ability to plan and implement trainings and events
