Floyd County GA is looking for a Chief Water Distribution Operator.

JOB SUMMARY: 

The purpose of this classification is to supervise and perform technical work in the operation and maintenance of the County's surface water treatment plant to ensure the delivery of safe drinking water in compliance with applicable regulations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Supervises, trains, schedules, and evaluates assigned staff; assigns work, monitors workflow, and resolves personnel issues.
• Operates, monitors, and maintains the surface water treatment plant to ensure safe, efficient, and continuous water treatment operations.
• Monitors treatment processes, chemical feed systems, equipment performance, and water quality to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local    regulations.
• Performs and reviews laboratory testing, sample collection, and operational records to verify water quality and regulatory compliance.
• Inspects, troubleshoots, maintains, and performs preventive maintenance on plant equipment, instrumentation, pumps, and related systems.
• Maintains operational records, prepares reports, and monitors plant data, chemical usage, and treatment system performance.
• Maintains inventory of chemicals, supplies, tools, and equipment and coordinates the procurement of materials as needed.
• Ensures compliance with applicable safety standards, environmental regulations, and departmental policies while operating equipment and responding to operational issues.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

High school diploma or equivalent, and three (3) years of experience in water treatment plant operations, including one (1) year of lead or supervisory experience or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia Class I Water Treatment Operator License and a valid driver's license.
