Job Summary: 

Georgia Northwestern Technical College is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Associate Vice President of Student Success (AVPSS). This position will report to the Vice President of Student Affairs and Student Success. This position provides strategic direction and leadership for the college's student success initiatives. This position is responsible for the oversight of programs and services, both academic and non-academic, designed to enhance recruitment, retention, and overall student achievement, and leads the development of student success strategies across all GNTC campuses. The AVPSS works closely with faculty, staff, and external partners to foster a supportive, student-centered culture that drives academic and personal success.


Duties/Responsibilities: 

    Under minimal supervision, coordinates the development of student success goals, objectives, policies, and standards.

    Analyzes and assesses the effectiveness of existing programs.

    Assess the impact of student success platforms to inform continuous improvement efforts, including platforms such as the TargetX/Salesforce CRM (Customer Resource Management) system, ADG Orientation, Cadence/Mogli messaging systems, Handshake, TEAMS, ESPYR, Find Help, Unite US, SAM/CIDI, and any other platforms related to student success.

    Collaborate with other college leaders, including staff and faculty, to support continuous improvement initiatives related to student success.

    Coordinate with system office leaders to ensure the implementation of TCSG policies and procedures, best practices, and statewide initiatives, such as GEORGIA MATCH.

    Develop and implement plans to improve institutional enrollment, including recruitment rates, enrollment conversion, student retention, and completion rates.

    Engage with stakeholders, community leaders, and corporate and industry partners to meet local workforce needs, promote the institution's impact on the community, and foster partnerships that directly benefit student success.

    Ensure compliance with federal and state laws, including Title IX, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Clery Act, and institutional policies as they pertain to student success initiatives.

    Ensure utilization of student success platforms that result in measurable improvements in student engagement, retention, and overall academic achievement.

    Manage the institution’s enrollment and retention communication plan, including email, text messaging, call center, events, and appointment campaigns.

    Manage budget and expenditures for the department.

    Monitor progress and productivity of assigned staff.

    Oversee the analysis of student success metrics, establish performance benchmarks, and identify opportunities for improvement.

    Oversee the implementation and compliance of the federal Carl Perkins grant in areas related to student success, such as accessibility, admissions counseling, career counseling and placement, recruitment, and special populations.

    Participate in strategic planning.

    Promote a welcoming and inclusive environment that supports student engagement and success across all campuses.

    Provide leadership and direction for the Student Success departments in the areas of recruitment, testing, admissions, orientation, enrollment, academic advising, retention, accessibility services, special populations, career services, student engagement, student organizations, student support, and veteran’s affairs.

    Provide leadership to, and participate in, the development, implementation, and evaluation of departmental continuous improvement initiatives, recommending corrective actions.

    Recommend and enforce policies, procedures, and practices that foster a student-ready college environment.

    Review relevant data and alert vice president of trends and recommended actions.

    Supervise, train, and evaluate student success personnel, ensuring alignment with the college's goals and values.

    Serve in place of vice president as needed.

    Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications: 

The applicant must have a Bachelor’s degree in a related field *and* Five (5) years of related work experience.


Preferred Qualifications: 

The applicant Master’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university. Ten (10) years of full-time, paid management experience in higher education. Experience at a Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) institution. Knowledge of the mission of postsecondary technical education. Working knowledge of TCSG policies, procedures, and best practices. Demonstrated experience in student success initiatives, strategic planning and implementation of college-wide strategies, and leadership. Experience in staff supervision, training, and performance evaluation. Experience managing Career Services platforms, such as Handshake or Purple Briefcase. Experience utilizing higher education data analysis software, such as Insights or SAS/KMS. Experience with student admissions and retention platforms used for orientation, messaging, queue management, and other related technologies. Extensive experience with higher education CRM systems, specifically TargetX/Salesforce. Familiarity with federal grants, such as Carl D. Perkins. Knowledge of GEORGIA MATCH as well as other statewide initiatives in the areas of recruitment, admissions, enrollment, and retention. Knowledge of state and federal laws impacting student success, including Title IX, ADA, and the Clery Act. Proven experience in managing and integrating student support services, such as support and care networks, student resource services, accessibility services, mental health services, and veteran services. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse populations. Working knowledge of academic advising and retention strategies and best practices. Working knowledge of student admissions and enrollment strategies and best practices.


Physical Demands: 

Work is typically performed in a classroom or office environment with intermittent sitting, standing, or walking in various settings. The employee occasionally lifts or moves objects to a light to medium weight. Full range of hand and finger motion may be utilized for data entry purposes.

If the job involves driving, physical requirements include the ability to operate a vehicle and sit for extended periods.


Salary: $100,000 


Benefits: 

If this is a part-time position, no benefits are available. If this is a full-time position, benefits include: 13 paid State holidays, annual and sick leave, paid parental leave, educational support leave, options in the State of Georgia health and flexible benefits package, 401k & 457 options, a choice of two retirement systems dependent upon position: Teachers Retirement System of Georgia or the Employer’s Retirement System of Georgia.
