Job Summary


This position supports the Georgia Highlands College Homeless Initiative to ensure operation of services provided to students and the local community who are facing homelessness. This role will perform administrative tasks, help with event coordination, and foster community partnerships.


Responsibilities


Is responsible to understand, support, and carry out the college's mission, vision, and values and comply with mandates and regulations of government and accrediting bodies.


Administrative Support


• Utilizes Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher) to create flyers, reports, and other materials for outreach, awareness, and fundraising.


• Assists with maintaining and organizing digital and physical records related to the initiative/program.


• Assists with data entry, tracking inventory, and managing other administrative needs of the program.


Campus Outreach Activities


• Plans, organizes, and hosts campus outreach activities such as awareness campaigns, fundraisers, and community events.


• Coordinates logistics for outreach programs including room reservations, supplies, and volunteer coordination.


Community Partnership Development


• Reaches out to local community organizations, government agencies, and businesses to generate partnerships and secure resources (e.g., donations, supplies, services).


• Makes contacts by phone, mail, or email, and attends meetings to nurture and build relationships with potential partners.


Food Pantry Management


• Assists with the management of the GHC food pantry including inventory tracking, restocking, and ensuring supplies are distributed appropriately.


• Works with community partners to obtain food donations and other supplies necessary for the pantry.


Collaboration with College Departments


• Coordinates with various departments within Georgia Highlands College to support collaborative efforts and activities related to the Homeless Initiative. Assist in developing and implementing new projects that support homeless students and community members.


Required Qualifications


• High School Diploma or equivalent (Some college coursework preferred)


• Previous experience with community outreach, social services, or volunteer work is beneficial.


Proposed Salary


$18.00 per hour


Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities


• Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher)


• Excellent verbal and written communication skills


• Ability to work independently and as part of a team


• Detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to manage multiple tasks at once


• Comfortable making phone calls and reaching out to new contacts


• Compassionate and empathetic approach to working with individuals facing homelessness
