Job Title: Assistant Store Manager

Position type: Part-Time, Non-Exempt

Reports to: Thrift Store Manager


Position Summary:

The Assistant Thrift Store Manager effectively assists in managing the operations of the thrift store, ensuring that donors

and customers receive excellent customer service, and that production and sales goals are consistently met.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities


Customer Service

ï‚· Available to assist customers

ï‚· Ensures prompt and accurate customer checkout

ï‚· Handles price changes, refunds and merchandise exchanges

ï‚· Resolves customer complaints and concerns

ï‚· Keeps store well stocked and clean, with merchandise appropriately displayed

ï‚· Wears professional attire per the Employee Handbook guidelines

ï‚· Knows and follows all HHFW policies and procedures


Donor Services

ï‚· Gives prompt assistance to people wishing to donate items. Heavy lifting may be required when

loading/unloading donated items.

ï‚· Offers every donor a receipt

ï‚· Responds appropriately to questions regarding HHFW policies on accepting items for donations


Client Services

ï‚· Always ensures the confidentiality of clients

ï‚· Provides clients with assistance in locating needed items


Staff Management

ï‚· Support Thrift Store Manager in hiring retail associates and volunteers

ï‚· Assist in managing schedules of retail associates and volunteers

ï‚· Assist with orientation of new employees and ongoing training of employees and volunteers

ï‚· Report concerns for disciplinary violations regarding retail associates and volunteers to the Thrift Store Manager


Operations and Store Management

ï‚· Responsible for assisting with management of point of all sale operations

ï‚· Conduct routine safety inspections

ï‚· Ensure dressing rooms and bathrooms are clean and working

ï‚· Oversee the processing of all donated items


Qualifications

ï‚· High school diploma or equivalent

ï‚· 3 years retail experience required

ï‚· Ability to work effectively with a diverse group of individuals

ï‚· Ability to work independently as well as under direct supervision

ï‚· Ability to perform basic math functions (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division)

ï‚· Excellent verbal and written communication skills

ï‚· Preferred skills include strong management and supervision, effective communication, time management,

strong organizational skills, computer and technology skills, and a sense of personal and community

responsibility.

Physical requirements:

ï‚· Must be able to lift 50 pounds

ï‚· Position requires standing, walking, lifting, carrying items, moving items
