ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF COUNSELING

The Assistant Director of Counseling will collaborate with the Director of Counseling to provide leadership and oversight of counseling services, ensuring a high standard of care for students. This role involves direct clinical work, program development, and staff supervision, focusing on creating a positive, supportive environment for both students and staff.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing direct clinical counseling services to students through individual and group counseling modalities.
  • Providing on-call services to address after-hours mental health emergencies on campus.
  • Develop programs and collaborate with campus partners to promote mental health initiatives and resources.
  • Providing clinical supervision of staff, masters-level interns, and trainees.
  • Monitor and evaluate counseling services, utilizing data to inform program improvements and resource allocation.
  • Conduct outreach and educational workshops for students, faculty, and staff.
  • Collaborate within the Department, Division, and across campus to support the Berry College mission, including representing the Counseling Center on assigned committees and special events.

The Assistant Director of Counseling position is a full-time 10-month or 12-month position with competitive benefits and a salary commensurate with qualifications and experience


REQUIREMENTS:

  • Master's degree in counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field.
  • Licensure as a mental health professional (e.g., LCSW, LPC, Psychologist) is required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience, with a preference toward experience working with college student populations.
  • Demonstrated experience in program development and staff supervision.
  • Strong understanding of mental health issues affecting college students.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
