Job Summary


This position is responsible for the installation, development, maintenance, and support of advanced database application systems. The position also assists the Director of Enterprise Application Services in senior level responsibilities.


This is an on-site position at our Rome/Floyd Campus


Responsibilities


• Is responsible to understand, support, and carry out the college's mission, vision, and values and comply with mandates and regulations of government and accrediting bodies.


• Install, upgrade, and maintain enterprise applications including system patches and updates


• Assist with installing and updating systems databases and application processes


• Develop, test, document, implement, and maintain web-based software applications using a variety of formats including SQL scripts, Pro-C programs, end-user interfaces, back-end databases, spreadsheets, and web reports to assist users in maintaining administrative data and reporting capabilities


• Develop and implement procedures to automate processes where possible


• Document procedures, technical instructions, and business processes


• Assist with miscellaneous technical problems on client enterprise applications


• Assist in troubleshooting, assisting users, and communicating with USG/ITS and Shared Services Database Analysts


• Creates complex transactional job processes incorporating a variety of languages and platforms


• Performs complex data reporting with various programming tools


• Maintains user accounts and security


• Provide end-user application and desktop support for large-scale integrated relational database applications


• Extracts and imports third-party data


• Monitor daily-automated processes to ensure completion success


• Troubleshoot and modify existing database applications or systems either out of necessity or upon request


• Performs related duties


Required Qualifications


• Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of a baccalaureate degree in a course of study related to the occupational field


• Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the work of subordinate positions to be able to answer questions and resolve problems, usually associated with one to three years of experience or service


• Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.


Proposed Salary


This is a full time, fully benefitted position.


The annual salary is $65,478.00

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities


• Knowledge of relational database design, administration, and integrated systems


• Knowledge of high-level programming languages such as SQL, PL/SQL, Pro C, Java, Groovy, Grails, Oracle Forms, and Linux/Unix shell scripting


• Knowledge of Linux/Unix, Windows, and OS X operating systems


• Knowledge of vendor-based systems commonly used in higher education for student information systems such as Ellucian Banner, EMC Application Extender, Oracle Fusion Middleware, Tomcat, and WebLogic Server administration


• Understanding of Internet, web concepts, and contemporary web development knowledge including: HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery, and MVC Paradigm


• Knowledge of data processing equipment, principles, and best practices


• Effective time management, customer service, organizational, and analytical skills


• Ability to analyze, research solutions, and design new applications and processes using various programming tools


• Ability to multi-task, train and support staff in their daily business practices and processes,'and demonstrate use of independent'judgment for complex decisions


• Advanced problem-solving skills


• A working knowledge of enterprise application entities of a higher education institution such as Payroll, Fund Accounting, Registration, and Financial Aid business processes.


• Effective oral and written communication with both internal and external customers.

The work consists of varied specialized duties. Frequent technology changes contribute to the complexity of the position.


The purpose of this position is to maintain the college's applications systems. Success in this position results in the efficient and effective provision of services to end-users.


The Director of Enterprise Applications Services assigns work in terms of very general instructions. The supervisor spot-checks completed work for compliance with procedures and the nature and propriety of the final results.


This position does not have supervisory responsibility for others.
