Berry College Memorial Library seeks a collaborative and service-oriented administrative assistant to join our dynamic, student-focused team.
The administrative assistant supports the Director of Memorial Library, providing administrative support to the Director, library office management, budgeting and financial accounting, administration of library personnel records, and oversight of library facilities. Core responsibilities include: assisting the Director with budget planning, forecasting, review of expenditures, and annual budget preparation; purchasing and facilitating purchasing of materials, supplies, equipment and services necessary for the operation of the library; tracking, reviewing and processing invoices for library expenses; coordinating library staff and student employment matters with Human Resources, LifeWorks, and Payroll; overseeing all library facilities ensuring that the building systems function properly and meet the needs of our library patrons and employees. The administrative assistant is the first point of contact for people meeting with the Director.
The administrative assistant position is non-exempt, 40 hours per week, located in Memorial Library, and reporting to the Director of Memorial Library. The normal work schedule is 8 am to 5 pm, Monday - Friday, with occasional work outside of that schedule in support of special events. The anticipated start date for this position is August 3, 2026.
Requirements:
- Associate's degree. Bachelor's degree preferred.
- One year of administrative, bookkeeping, and/or financial accounting experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Familiarity and comfort with computer technology, as well as the ability to adapt to and use new systems.
- Ability to follow through on projects, set priorities, and maintain a positive service-oriented demeanor through frequent interruptions.
- Aptitude for exacting and detailed work.
- Effective and professional written and oral communication skills.
- Experience working effectively both independently and collaboratively, and discernment to judge which is appropriate.
- Strong interpersonal skills and proven ability to work in a gracious, inclusive, professional, and collegial capacity with coworkers, students, faculty, staff, administrators, and members of the community.
