Berry College's Business Office is looking to hire an Accountant who can develop and maintain various data files as needed, communicate clearly with their team, and ensure compliance with federal and state guidelines for various job duties. This job's duties include maintenance, setup, communication, and administration of the fixed assets, including depreciation, disposal, and all associated taxes real and ad valorum. The person in this job position will be responsible for the monitoring, reconciliation, and processing of monthly internal accounting entries. Another part of their responsibilities will include reconciling and adjusting the College's various inventory (cows, sheep, horses, retail, cash, etc.), along with performing monthly entries and periodic physical counts. This job also asks that one process journal entries, gather data, prepare schedules, and provide documentation for the annual financial audit. 

ADDITIONAL DUTIES OF THE POSITION

1. Review and reconciliation of GL clearing accounts.

2. Configuration and administration of meal plans in Touchnet, the College's one-card platform.



REQUIREMENTS:

1. Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance-related discipline, or associate degree in business-related discipline with job-related experience to equate to additional education.

2. Position requires a minimum of 1 year of accounting experience.

3. Accounting - Understanding of accounting principles and application to the general ledger.

4. Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Teams - Able to develop and maintain various data files as needed and maintain communication with the team.

5. Communication - Must be able to communicate with both internal and external parties effectively.

6. Regulations - Ensures compliance with federal and state guidelines related to various job duties.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The noise level is low but frequent throughout the day. The position has a shared office that is temperature-controlled.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Minimal lifting of items around 10-20 pounds. Position does require sitting at a desk for long periods, looking at a computer screen for long periods, and occasionally bending or squatting. The job entails physically going out to sites at least once a year for physical inventory count.
