Description
You're Invited to the Ribbon Cutting for
Northwest Georgia Charter Academy!
A ribbon cutting for the Northwest Georgia Charter Academy will celebrate the first public charter school established in northwest Georgia. While there are over 100 communities across the state benefitting from this innovative tuition-free public school choice model, northwest Georgia families and students had been left behind. That is no longer the case!
The NW GA Charter Academy will open on August 3 to serve 167 students in grades K-5 and will add a grade level each year to reach K-12. Students who live in one of the three local districts can attend this tuition-free community-based, innovative new school (Floyd County Schools, Rome City Schools and Polk School District). The school is located on the beautiful, gated 460-acre GSD campus in Cave Spring and already has waiting lists in grades 1-5 with a few openings in kindergarten as of June 30, 2026.
The school will utilize the nationally acclaimed Expeditionary Learning (EL) whole school model with three dimensions of learning focused on: 1) mastery of knowledge and skills; 2) high quality work; and 3) habits of character. Charter schools using the EL model consistently achieve academic excellence while enjoying a positive and supportive culture.
The school mascot, the Phoenix, represents strength and renewal; resilience, transformation and rising to new heights, and we are ready for an awesome INAUGURAL year.
At NWGA Charter Academy, “We Are Crew” - and together - we RISE!
