HVAC Technician/Correctional Officer
We are looking for an HVAC Technician!
The purpose of this classification is to perform skilled work functions associated with installing, repairing, and maintaining heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems and associated equipment.
Responsibilities
- Supervises a work crew of offenders assigned to work detail; monitors offender activities to ensure security; instructs offenders on proper work techniques; monitors status of work in progress; inspects completed work.
- Installs, repairs and maintains various pipes, fittings and fixtures, and heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems, according to specifications.
- Installs, repairs, replaces, and/or maintains a variety of heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems, equipment, and related components (such as air conditioners, cooling towers, exhaust fans/vents, ice machines, various small appliances, etc.).
- Performs various skilled/semi-skilled and manual work functions associated with installing, repairing, and maintaining heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems (such as installing/repairing gas lines, maintaining boiler units, assembling/installing valves and pipes, welding metal components, cutting wall/floor openings to accommodate pipes/fittings, changing air filters, greasing equipment, etc.).
- Observes operation of installed systems and equipment to detect hazards and identify need for adjustment or replacement.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Five (5) years experience in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning.
- Trade/Technical school certificate/diploma.
- Candidates may qualify with any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
