Accounts Payable Clerk

Position Summary
 
Under the supervision of the Director of Finance and Administrative Services, this position is responsible for conducting Public Housing Authority financial matters in an orderly, accurate, and efficient manner.  Work primarily involves accounts payable activities to include but not be limited to all NWGHA providers, Tax Credits, and tenants.  This position is responsible for issuance of all payments for Northwest Georgia Housing Authority and its subsidiaries.
 
Major Duties and Responsibilities
 

  • Assists the Director of Finance and Administrative Services with general accounting duties including the responsibility of all accounts payable processing for Tax Credit properties.
  • Responsible for filing and accurately maintaining invoices from accounts payable in appropriate vendor files.
  • Assist with year-end 1099 preparation and appropriate fining with other government agencies.
  • Assist the Director of Finance and Administrative Services with annual audit and data collection for auditors as necessary.
  • Keeps informed on the policies, procedures and requirements as related to the financial accounting aspects of the Northwest Georgia Housing Authority.
  • Tax Credit reporting for Northwest Georgia Housing Authority?s Tax Credit properties.
  • Performs other accounting duties as needed by the Director of Finance and Executive Director.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
 
  • Knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles, methods and practices, including HUD and GAAP accounting requirements.
  • Knowledge of computers, computerized systems and the use of computers for financial operations, and the use of spreadsheets and word-processing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, supervisors and the public.
 
Education and Experience
 
High School graduate supplemented by courses in accounts payables.  Minimum of two years of experience in working with accounts payables and general ledger or any equivalent combination of relevant education and experience to meet the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
 
Special Requirements
  •  Ability to be covered under the Authority?s fidelity bond.
  • Possession of a valid Georgia driver?s license.

Compensation
  • $16.00 per hour.
