Senior Manager, Safety and Security

Scope of Position:  The Senior Manager, Safety and Security will be responsible for all physical safety and security safety programs supporting the foundation ministries and support services.  Serving in this role will encompass managing the campus patrol staff while also developing, maintaining, and overseeing the continuous improvement of physical safety and security programs.  In addition, this role will enlist the consultation and support of Learning and Development for the training of staff on those programs.   

 

Reports to:  Director, Workplace and Property Services

Responsibilities

  • Creates a serving, welcoming, and relationally safe environment for all that interact with Workplace and Property Services
  • Meets regularly with ministries and support services to monitor ongoing operations and develop/maintain foundational physical safety/security programs, policies, and key processes
  • Collaborates and plans initiatives and improvement plans with ministries and support services
  • Maintains subject matter knowledge of applicable federal, state, local safety and security regulations (ex. OSHA, NFPA, EPA)
  • Consults with Learning and Development to implement, design and deliver learning programs
  • Builds and maintains working relationships and integration of operation with Berry College Campus Security and local Fire, Police, and Emergency Medical authorities to ensure cooperation and coordination during emergency events
  • Leads the scheduling and scope of work of up to (5) campus patrol staff
  • Plans, directs, and coordinates the activities of the campus patrol team
  • Collaborates with Repair and Maintenance and IT to maintain coordination of resources (fire systems, access control, and security cameras)
  • Oversees and coordinates multiyear security assessments and maintains continuous improvement plans that are informed by data (ex. Total Incident Rate, Crime Cast Report)
  • Conducts incident investigations to determine incident root cause and corrective action required
  • Consults on and supports safety and security related projects
  • Serves on the Workplace and Property Services Leadership Team to assist in the development and maintenance of standard operating procedures to ensure efficient operation and clear expectations for our staff and vendors
  • Performs other duties and tasks as assigned by the Director, Workplace and Property Services

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in safety or security related field and/or combination of education and position specific work experience
  • Requires 5-7 years of related work experience
  • Working knowledge of regulations and general safety standards
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record required
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to communicate with clarity and simplicity
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with peers and vendors
  • Must be willing and able to work evenings and weekends as business needs require
